I have a question. I'm having trouble finding halves in my area and have considered trying to order directly from the mint. I couldn't find anything on the mints web site about ordering boxes or bags of circulated coins. They didn't have listed anything older than '05, and only listed 2009 halves. Is it worth it to order direct? Not just for halves, but dimes, nickels, and pennies too. How does one order direct?

You cannot order circulated coins directly from the mint. If you're looking for new coins, they charge a hefty premium for coins except the dollar coins.

Yep, the Mint isn't in business to sell circulation coins ,in bulk, to individuals, they make'em, then distribute them to the various federal reserve banks

From the mint you can only buy this years coins. Most of the time you will pay at least 3-4 times face value.

That is how the mint makes money.

Its not that much mark up on half dollars... somewhere around 65 cents per coin if you buy the bag and 82 cents per coin if you buy the two rolls

Hi there-

For what it's worth, I tried contacting Dunbar and Brinks directly to try to arrange coin delivery. They were both really nice, but told me I had to go through a bank.

Only when they CAN'T have it, ......THEN they'll want it.

I love Cents. If you get an UNC box, you win. If you get a regular circ. box, you win. If you get a zinc box, you don't lose....so you still win.

Good thing there are a lot of banks.
