Yesterday I found a 2004-s penny that had very high luster but appeared to be about 1.5 times as thick as a regular penny. It appeared to be real and made out of metal but I was not really sure. Is out of a special set? I don't really get the extra thickness with flat edges. Is it fake? I will try to get pictures later, but I thought someone might have some info on it.

Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams
Definitely a proof cent from the sounds of it, but would the weight be any different if it was? I cant remember if these would weigh any more but dont think they would.
My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.
I'd weigh it only because he says it appears to be thicker. You never know....

I think it will weigh the same. It is a proof cent. Not any thicker, just an optical delusion. Some countries make piefort proofs which are thicker, but the US mint has not started that option yet.
