I finally got a nice box. I ordered two but only one came in. Every time I get one box, it's pretty good from this bank. Ask for two and I've been geting two skunks. Go figure and no complaint.

2 Boxes Halves.
Second box total skunk and heavily marked (searched) coins.
First box had a nice 62 Franklin, three 64's and six 40%ers. I also found two 2008P's and one 2008D. I am a cronic everything and when it's bad I am sorting at red lights after picking up a batch.
I collect coins but have a lot of hoarding instinct so I collect everything way beyond, normal.
I see Country has industrial moments. This to me means you have lots of stuff for sorting and storing. I sure do. In fact I got a huge place to spread out all my hobbies . So, Mr Country, what are your plans for the amazing amount of NIFC's you also must have? I don't think all I have are of any true coin collector value as many are scatched. Collecting them anyway, can't help it. Heck, I collect greenies and grayies if the patina and coin are nice. Got quite a few after looking through a quarter million halves or so.
When for whatever reason I cannot get halves, I get pennies from my dump banks where the pickins are good. I am filling tubes from each year and many years by mintmark. One or more for each year. I got a head start becuase I already had tubes from when I was six and seven but I still find many coins from the teens today. At times it's as good as when I was six, 49 years ago. The piggy banks have been good to the coins.
New boxes tomorrow.

For what its worth, I also sort at red lights. I have been spending most of my NIFC coins, keeping only 10 from each year/mint, other than 87, 08, and 09. I am also accumulating quite a number of gold plated halfs; I know there isn't much gold there, but more than i would likely get panning a local stream. Has anyone sold impaired proofs for more than 0.50 @?
Although I don't keep track of how many I sort, working backwards from Mr. Country's data, I would guess I will have done 250k of halfs by year end. |

I've got my NIFCs put away in paper rolls in a cardboard Brink's box. I got 101 of them in one Brink's box in February - all 2004s. I was getting silvers on a more consistent basis earlier this year, sort of drying up lately. So far, I've searched through 94549 halves and found 844 silver halves, averaging 9 per box. |

Well, just when I think it's all uphill, I find a sweet spot on a pallet. Maybe I am in the puddle that fb101 was in a little while back.
Two boxes halves:
I am sure this is connected to one of the last two boxes, the one with silver of course.
3-Walkers 2-1943P and 1-1936P
9-1964's all but one has been in someone's top dresser drawer since it was minted.
66-40%ers most in bright new condition
11-Franklin's always suprised if I find more than 1964's
all in average condition but no complaints!

Haven't been through the rest to see if there is anything of interest.
Got two boxes of pennies to check.

WOW! That's a nice box - 89 SILVERS.
Comparing this box to your previous boxes, I think there is another box to come that will be as good or better. Usually when you get a great box like tonight, you can get the companion box (from the original $1000 bag) which should have a similar total amount and like dispersion of 90% and 40% silvers. Hopefully, that box is still on the pallet so you have a chance to get it. |

Here is my half dollar take so far, year to date:
1964's: 100
40%'s: 968
Franklins: 51
Walking L: 15
1970: 2; one pristine, the other very tarnished
And a bunch of impared proofs. I have pretty much given up saving any NIFC coins, other than 87, 08, and 09.
I will use Mr. Country's spreadsheet to back into how many halfs I have probably sifted to get this yield, although I think silver consentrations in the Pacific NorthWest may be a little lower than elsewhere.

Looking at the ratio of 90% to 40% silver halfs, I seem to have a significantly higher saturation of 40% silver than Country, and Country seems to have lower 90% saturation than the larger population. I would have predicted the opposite, that I would have had the higher saturation of 90%, although a lower percent of over-all silver. I wonder why -----

4 boxes of dimes---7 silver.
Also my orders for halves at my bank have been comming back as quarters instead. This has happened twice and no mistake was made by the bank in their request. Has this happened to anybody else? I hope it is a temporary thing and I will be able to get more halves soon! |
