Hi all,

I think this topic was touched upon a while ago but I know it's been a while and was wondering if anyone recently has dealt with or sent gold jewelry to any of the 400 billion "cash4gold" type jewelry refining joints that seem to have sprung up overnight.

Has anyone recently sent anything in or know someone who has? How was the experience? Details?

I keep hearing that they are a complete ripoff by anyone who has the slightest knowledge of the real wealth of precious metals (everyone on this forum ) But I would love to find out what's going on in this new hustle. (you know, keep your friends close, and your enemies closer...)

Nobody on here would sell precious metals at current prices unless they were starving to death, but given the collective economic savvy of everyone on here, I think starvation is the furthest thing from most of us. I also don't think any of us would be dumb enough to send our real money (precious metals) to these people in exchange for FRNs anyway. That would kind of defeat the purpose of staying one step ahead of sheeple and their sheeple herders.

I always enjoy those commercials. "Gold is at its highest price in decades!" Is it? Check the charts. They are targeting uneducated people with the phony "example people". They probably buy the gold at 60% of real value.

I'm hearing that they send you a low-ball check for your PMs. If you cash it the deal is done. If you call them and say you want your PMs back they will up their offer. The second offer may be more competitive with on-site gold buyers, but few wouldn't take the first check offer and cash it.

So the question I have is, who are these buyers selling to?? If we could figure out who they're selling PM to, we could bypass the middleman and make a lot more markup than the scam these guys are running to milk the ignorant masses on what their gold is really fetching.

I saw a news report on cash for gold from the tv comercials. They took a known amount of gold and sent it in. It was 700ish melt value. It took a month or so to get a check because they did not pay extra to get a fast check. They got 100ish for it. When they called to complain and try to get their gold back they raised the price to 300ish but would not give the gold back nor would they give the 700ish (the true melt value)..

I looked for the news report but could not find it. It was in You must be logged in to see this link. news section. I would not trust them.
