I picked up a $100 Brinks box yesterday afternoon at my bank. I had never searched a Brinks box before, only having done 2 NF String boxes of nickels. I was about 3/4 of the way through the box, and was about to call it a night when I decided to open one more roll. I opened the roll, letting it spill out onto my bed. Picked up a few coins, nothing special. When I looked down next, that's when I noticed it......an 1883 no cents liberty nickel!! This one will probably grade vf; "liberty" in the crown is still visible. I'll try to post a few scans (sorry no pics as I don't have a digital camera). Anyone know how to post pics of scanned items here??

Sweet indeed! Congratulations.

Live free or die. Plain and simple.
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams |

Awesome find. Looks to be in a lot better shape than one would expect for it's age. I bet that recently came from a collection.
Whether it was with the last owners consent or not is another matter... But, it's water under the bridge now, congrats.

I am sooooo jealous! I have never found a liberty nickel in any of my boxes. Great looking coin!
Guess I will just have to do like with the pennies.. "Just sort more!" |
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.
Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available. |
