How can a a bank have rolls of ~BU condition 2001 D half dollars? Anyway, I bought a few of them for the heck of it today. The teller told me that they had the box for 8 months. There were 31 rolls left. I guess there were not too many requests for them really. They are not the 2001 P ones that were uncirculated, so I was a little neutral overall about getting them but I figured the worst is I will have to deposit them if they are not collector-worthy.
Not really a market for them. I get them all the time in my half dollar boxes. 2001 was about the last year they minted halves for circulation and there are still millions of them in vaults. Don't tie up your capital.. spend 'em.
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Thanks for the info there HCBTT. I will probably spend them at the gas station or something like that. May hold onto one or two for the heck of it. The way interest rates are, I have a carry cost of maybe 40 pennies a year per a roll if I do not put them in a CD or other money instrument. I can pick up 8 cans on a bike ride to pay the rent for holding onto each roll, lol.
