I never had a roll like this before. While ripping open CWR rolls of halves I found 4 world coins and 2 tokens. They were a 1998 $2 from Hong Kong,a 1968 100 Lire from Italy,a 1988 $500 Peso and a 1990 $1000 Peso from Mexico,a Wonder Wash token and an Irish blessing token all in the same roll!
Am I ripped off to the tune of 3 bucks or are these coins worth anything? I suppose the car wash token could be worth $5, but I am unaware of that chain of car washes nearby.

Is this your first experience with this institution? If you have a good relationship there, speak with the Manager. If this is your first experience on a drive buy, skip them next time. Keep the Irish Blessing Token, you can't afford to pi$$ off Leprechauns! |

| pm sent hirbonzig. I get lots of foreign coins in rolls. Most of the time you get "ripped off" because the foreign coins are worth less than the US coins. You especially get ripped off when you get plastic coins from a kid's playset! |

Raising the issue with the bank might change thier policy toward making it harder for customers (like you) to deposit rolled coin. That would be bad for you - way worse then $3 bucks. I'd chalk it up to part of the game. The next 90% you pull will offset your little loss.
The 1968 100 Lire is worthless to spend as it was demonitized and replaced by the Euro. Lire were pretty worthless to begin with.
I don't know about the Mexican coins. I'd Google the carwash chain - that might be a pick up for you. Sometimes these weird finds work out. Someone claimed to find a free drink token from thier local country club, pretty good trade for a penny!
The $2 HK is worth about a US quarter. However, coins in Hong Kong are rapidly going obsolete. 1998 as the last year they were minted, due to the introduction of the Octopus Card (I have one of those somewhere from my last trip). The Octopus Card costs a few dollars deposit, and can be preloaded and used on the subway and for many other small purchases. So hopefully that $2 coin helped teach you something about the future of money. It's also a pretty coin IMO. You must be logged in to see this link.
I never consider international coins a loss because they represent a great learning opprotunity. |

| I would keep the finds and as someone mentioned, it's part of the game. I ordered a box a couple of weeks ago that was about $2.50 short. It had a couple of quarters, a couple of pennies, and must have had a roll missing a half altogether. I thought about saying something to the lady I order these through, but she has been very accomodating and I dont want to ruin a good thing over a couple of bucks. So I just sucked it up and had to move on. At least you got some interesting stuff. :) |

| I don't know when the Pesos were demonetized- I know the 80's one is worthless but maybe the 90's one is good. When I started hunting there was alot of foreign coins (and the silver was rollin too), now not so much foreign and the silver is just tricklin. My advice is keep truckin and don't bitch, the silver may more than make up for it. My theory is the counter/rollers used to count/roll anything so you are into old stock. ME right now my area has gone through the old stock and just recycling with what silver is being dumped right now. HH Mark |

I agree!!! I know it sucks to find trash but if you raise a lot of commotion the bank may not want to get halves for you |

I've had very positive results discussing shortages and objects other than what is supposed to be rolled with the paper tube I am opening with the Managers of my two primary banks. I always show them the wrapper be it MWR OR CWR. I've known one since she was a teller, about 20 years and have a 15 year very good working relationship with the other.
Drive byes and new dump accounts are different, I take the loss and if it happens too often for my liking, I close the account and wait until somebody else is running an incentive to open a new account. |

The Mexican peso was devalued in 1992. 1,000 old pesos = 1 new peso. Any Mexican coin minted before 1992 is now worth one-thousandth of its face value.
In your case, 1500 old pesos = 1.5 new peso = 19 US cents. |
