While running the Ryedale, it jammed on me. I cleared the jam and threw the pennies back in the hopper only to have it jam again. This time I took a good look at the jammed pennies and one is very thick on one side and normal thickness on the other. It was the thickness that was jamming the machine. Would this be considered an error coin?

I don't know of any error categories based on thickness by itself. If the problem is because the blank was odd, I doubt that it is worth anything. If it was caused by some sort of mis-strike or die issue, it might be worth something, but there probably need to be some more strangeness to it that can explain what went wrong. IMHO

By the way, did you try weighing it?
