Was just looking at the APMEX site, and saw that they are running a Labor Day sale on silver Maples--$1.99 above spot. If you want Maples, this is the best price I am aware of right now. They say they are in stock and ready to deliver. I know many on this site have dealt with them and have been pleased with their customer service.

Sorry--forgot to mention that the price is regardless of the number of ounces ordered, whether one or 500 or more. |

I've got frequent flyer miles- they sent ME and email. Must have realized I hadn't ordered anything in a few days so suckered ME into another 20 ozs- bummer is I forgot Maples come in tubes of 25 and I only ordered 20. HH Mark |

I've been going overboard- the dilema is should I keep hunting for silver at FV and watch the prices rise toward the end of the year or should I buy silver while its cheap and eventually run out of hunting $$$. Since I am undecided I have been doing both haha, this order makes $3K in the last two weeks. I know its a win win long term but finding silver at FV is fun too. At least I'm not blowing the money like I used too- its an investment right. HH Mark Here's pics of one of the specials I got- my first 1oz. gold coin.

APMEX also has silver philharmonics in stock. Right now, they're priced at $16.71, a dollar more than the Maple leafs. 2008 is the first year the philharmonic has been issued in silver, plus it's the first silver bullion coin denominated in euros. At a dollar more than a Maple leaf, you might want to consider some for future numismatic value.
I order some and they just came today. I had not held one before. They're much thicker than the gold philharmonics, probably 3x as thick, and about the size of a half dollar. |

Yeah--I got some of those two weekends ago from another place that had an even better deal (that was the week silver took the big plunge, and they don't have them anymore). My first batch of silver Philharmonics--there are two things I don't like about them: the edges are not reeded, so when you hold them (if you don't wear gloves) you can leave fingerprints, and smudges, and the other thing I don't like is that they don't have .999 fine written on them--just "feinsilber"...neither of which are super big issues--just something I personally don't like...but, I think you are correct that because they are the first year of issue there may be an additional premium down the line... |

I agree. It's weird to see a coin that thick without a reeded edge. |

$12 or $13.
BTW, I *hate* APMEX's shipping and delivery system. Both times I've ordered, the boxes have been left on my front doorstep. I was home both times and didn't even get a knock on the door. No signature confirmation, just something called "delivery confirmation". I don't care for the U.S.P.S. and really wish that FedEx was an option at APMEX.
For several years I resisted ordering from APMEX. I have now bought from them twice. I like the products and would order from them more frequently if I liked their shipping more. As it is, the only items I order are things I can't get from my regular dealer or my backup dealer. I know of one other person whose APMEX delivery was left *on his neighbor's front porch*. Thankfully, his neighbor is an honest guy. In both my friend's case and mine, if someone had taken the packages, we'd be SOL, since the packages would show up in the U.S.P.S. system as "delivered". |

I was just reading a thread on GIM about APMEX's shipping. It was about 95% positive comments. Each time I've ordered I have had to sign for it. At least two people on that thread said they contacted their PO about leaving the box and found it DID have signature confirmation, and the carrier faked the signature. I was under the impression that all APMEX shipments were sent with signature confirmation, unless they recently added a dollar amount threshold.
There's another thread on this forum somewhere about APMEX shipping. There is a rep from APMEX on here occasionally as well; maybe he can clarify. |

From the APMEX FAQ page:
quote:
How is my order shipped?
American Precious Metals Exchange orders are shipped Registered/Insured U.S. Mail, UPS & Federal Express. Each package is fully insured and requires a signature upon delivery. Packages sent registered and insured mail can take on average 5-10 business days. The parcel's registration number is only available to trace a package if it hasn't been received within 30 days from the date shipped. Tracking numbers are not provided to customers due to insurance restrictions.

I read that, too and was surprised when I didn't get a FedEx option. When I called, the phone rep was pretty rude (and I'm hard to offend) and said that all orders were shipped U.S.P.S.
APMEX gets some of my business, and gets that grudgingly. But I'm sure they have plenty of customers, so they won't lose any sleep over this. |

This is very strange -- neither of my two boxes had signature confirmation, only delivery confirmation. I'm going to call APMEX tomorrow and see what the deal is. |

Interesting--I just found out last night that the Eagles actually don't have .999 fine written on them either--just "Fine Silver"...learn something new every day...guess that makes it even less of an issue for the Philharmonics . |

If you ordered today you probably got a better deal than I did when I ordered Friday since silver is down about 20 cents (in a thin holiday market)... |

I was wanting to go ahead and get in on this deal but currently, I'm watching the silver chart and silver keeps dropping?? Hummmm, thinking I should wait and see where it ends up by tomorrow. |
