I was just breaking open some Brinks rolls and one penny that just caught my eye didn't look like a regular zinc. It's a 2004-D but it looks much closer to gold in color. Could this have been plated, and if so, why would anyone bother to plate a 2004?
ADDITIONAL COMMENT: I just noticed what looks like bubbling on the back of the coin. Does this sound like it's probably plating? If so, what are the chance it's gold?
YET ANOTHER ADDITIONAL COMMENT: I was just about to start a thread in Numismatics and I found this tidbit: You must be logged in to see this link. Could this be my answer?
