Good. Let us know what you find. Do not get discouraged over skunks. Skunks happen.....a lot.

Update. Ok after going through half of the first box, I only got 3 wheats... 2 - 46's and a 52. Hey ten bears, I take it to mean that a skunk is 0 wheats in a box? I have gotten a lot of ones, but as yet, never a 0. I took a break and went to a bank where the last box I got had close to 25 - 30 wheats. For me, thats' a good box. I know that just because I got a good box last time doesn't have any bearing at all on the next box from there, but I sometimes can't help but be superstitious. Anyways, I got another box for a total of 7500 this morning. Back to the fun.

For some reason I had it in my mind that you were about to do some half dollars. My mistake. Skunks don't happen very often on pennies, unless you happen to get a box of newly issued coins. There all bright and shiny, but no copper.

Ok, I finished the first box and only got 5 wheats.... 3-46's, a 52 and a 55. On to box number 2. Tenbears, I wish I were doing half dollars. I have no half dollars. Do you?

PS: I have a 2 dollar bill. I think its worth 2 dollars.

I have a few that I have kept from my sorts. Half dollar sorting is about prospecting for silver. It's fun, but lots of skunks happen.

3 to 6 wheats per box is about what I average. I get all my pennies in $50.00 bags and usually get 10 - 12 wheats in a bag. My best bag for wheats was about 500 or 10 percent, and I just had a bag that had 4 Indians in it!!! (Sorry Tenbears)

COPPER - the "poormans" precious metal!!!

SELLING - $100.00 face copper shipped to you for $189.00 machine rolled or bagged - PM me if your interested.

Yes I couldn't believe it either. And unfortunately I don't have any witnesses because no one else in my house gives a #*@& about coin collecting of any kind. So I was down in my copper cave all by myself sorting copper and running my machines.

I have put in my dues though, you don't find Indians in every bag. I have sorted over 450 bags, which is over 2 million coins.

I realize you are looking for wheats, but you are setting aside the copper too right? To answer your other questions - yes you can sort 1/2s. You just buy them at any bank a few at a time or a few boxes at a time depending on supply and modivation. You don't want to dump coin in your source (don't pee in the well).

One idea that will cost you nothing is to try selling your dump zinc pennies to one bank in exchange for halfs. Sort the halfs (that takes maybe minutes) and then use the clad 1/2s to buy more unsorted pennies from your source banks. Repeat over and over! Heck this is such a good idea I should try it with nickels and pennies (my Canadian targets).

most $2 bills are worth $2 IF/WHEN you can get people to accept them as real money. Some people here buy them from banks in "straps" (100 bills of a single denomination) just to use as spending money. It is interesting to see the reactions. Spending 1/2s and dollar coins work nicely for the same shock effect. Why spend regular greenbacks and $20s when you can have double the fun?

“The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.” – George Bernard Shaw.

Legacypac, I started putting the coppers aside and then stopped. Currently just reserving wheats, indians. I may start back with hoarding the copper again.
