Has it jumped that much? Wasn't it like 30 cent a few weeks ago?

Last time I cashed mine in, it was .60 a lb, but that was before the big price drop. I'm afraid to find out what it is now, so I'm just piling them up. Happy scrappin!

California Refund Value

Deal

Live free or die.
Plain and simple.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

The crv out here in CA is 1.57 per pound. That is the minimum that Recyclers in the state are allowed to pay. Of course they are allowed to pay more if they want to. The difference between their rate and the crv is what they are paying for the scrap value of aluminum. With overseas scrap values being as low as they are right now I am surprised to see the high prices being paid by some of your scrap yards.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

You can't ship nearly enough in a flat rate box to amount to any weight. Once I figure out how to transfer pics from my camera to my computer I will show you guys some pics of what 1000 pound cubes look like.. I have stacks of 'em.

You probably buy these bails for yourself instead of actually reusing them.

At .15 I think I would just hoard the cans and wait for the price to go back up.

No place to store any more so had to take them to recycler while enroute to other stops. It was that, or throw them out.

I know what you mean. Sometimes I run out of places to store them too.. and have to sell at whatever price I can get.

HCBTT...well, I might have had just a few can less than you.

Great photo. Thanks for posting it. Seriously, prices are tanking but when you have to make room, you make room. I guess we have to think long term, i.e., DCA.

Well you know I do everything "By the Ton"

The prices tanking hurt a lot more when you do it in volume. Each of those bales of aluminum cans weigh about 1,000 pounds (half a ton).

Well.. time to get out of here for me.. singing *I owe, I owe, it's off to work I go!*

Comes in really handy. Half a ton of aluminum cans take up a lot of space in the hoppers until you squish them down into those cubes. And just imagine how the cans would keep falling off the truck when you load up 23 tons of them if they weren't packaged up all nice and neat like that.

1.90 is still very strong. That is 1.57 for the CRV and .33 for the scrap. Considering where the metals markets are right now, that is not a bad price.
