What are some good websites to purchase numismatic coins? I think most agree that ebay is too expensive, what sites might have deals or periodic clearence sales?

You guys are the experts, what sites do you use?

It is hard to recommend a good site because that is somewhat subjective.

Being a Canadian I have come across some great deals on older US coins because the market is geared more to the Canadian coin collectors up here. Sometime these coins sit in binders for years still have the price from a 2001 guide. You can really clean up sometimes.

Dealers are dealers though and it is hard to get great deals. I would recommend joining a coin forum and trying to use there buy sell trade areas. Most prices are under retail.

The problem with your question is that it is likd asking what girl should I marry, what car should I buy, what stock on the market should I invest in, etc. For example I could say only buy Fords and so you do and the first one you buy explodes. Worse yet I tell you to marry someone named Jane and you do and she poisons you. All my fault? Remember that coin dealers, like a used car saleperson, is only in the business to make money, not to make you a rich one. Any coins they sell to anyone is for profit, not to make friends.
My suggestion is to join as many coin forums as possible. Most have a rule that you must post a certain amount of times prior to trying to buy or sell something but most, not all, coin web sites are full of fairly honest individuals that as a rule are collectors, not dealers. HOWEVER, that is also not a certainty.
People are people everywhere and the greatest amount are trying to make it rich and giving you a great deal on a coin is not the way to do that.
