I thought this Forum was about Melt value of items, when the economy goes to the dogs. =p If I had money to burn, yeah. It'd be a nice focal point to have around |

Huh, never seen a 1/2oz Buffalo....
Deal |
Live free or die. Plain and simple.
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams |

hey neckro quote: Bullion Forum: gold, silver, copper, etc. This forum is for any precious or base metals related topic that does not have to do with hoarding copper pennies or nickels.
thats why i posted it here and not the nickel or copper pennies forum. If the mods want to move it to the numismatic forum thats cool. I consider to coins hoarding though I am not going to get it either i think a lot of the gold sold from the mint is way over priced. Deal quote: Huh, never seen a 1/2oz Buffalo....
they made it this year in 1/10, 1/4, 1/2, and 1 ounce this year |

Patience is the key if you want this set And you want to save money on buying it.
Anyone remember when the US Mint sold the commemorative gold and/or silver sets celebrating some milestone in the recent past? (the statue of liberty's anniversary, the constitution's anniversary, the Olympics when it was held in the US, etc.)
The mint sold these sets for top dollar but after a few years the sets could be found for spot price or a little better (that is how I picked up a few commemorative sets for spot.)
Be patient and you will be able to find these sets for melt from coin dealers or e-bay. Let someone else pay top dollar and lose money on the deal. |

In the 1980's I faithfully collected the mint sets. By 1990 most were worth about half the price I paid. I still enjoy buying them, but now I am paying the melt value and having a nice coin with certificates. I bought a few later and I guess my taste isn't right but I always buy the wrong ones. Mostly I buy them when I can afford them and so does everyone else. When we don't have the money those are the ones that get valuable.
Mint coins are best bought after the mint is done with them. They are cheaper. |

No mintage limit has been set = Melt value in less than 12 months. Nice looking set, wait and you will be able to buy them for around 10% over from a dealer. But in 12 months gold might be 2k an ounce. Its always a gamble. |
