Now that I have the Ryedale, my pile of unsorted pennies has shrunk a little, but the zincs are piling up. I cannot find a bank with a free coin counter withing 40 miles of my home. There is one that I found 90 miles away, but this is where I am buying my bags.

I have another that will count them and deposit them into my account at their convenience, but I hate to impose too much on them. They are 50 miles away.

Any suggestions? I called a dozen banks and credit unions yesterday and every one said that none of their branches offers the service. Do I need to go into every bank and ask?

Does anyone know of a bank in Rochester, Batavia, Ithica or maybe Syracuse that has a free counting service?

I'd go back to the one with the account and this time not ask about the coin counting service at their convenience, but instead tell them you need to deposit that in your account, present a normal deposit slip and ask when you can expect it to hit. You might have to have it rolled.

I have been known to go in, deposit zincs, go out to ATM, withdraw cash back, go to my penny banks and buy more.

See the thing is you are depositing legal currency in your own account. Do they make you only deposit fives and not ones and then they only count em at their convenience? Same thing IF you have an account.

There's one kind of branch I don't like to impose on much and that is the little ones in superstores. They are really limited in space, but even then I have had one in one OFFER to order me $100 worth if I called in on Friday and reminded her, and it was a drive by, I don't not even have an account there!

You are the customer. They need you more than you need them.

Late last week I was told by my credit union they would accept my bags of uncounted zincs if I weighted them at the $50.00 equivalent and was willing to make adjustments to my account accordingly. Yesterday I met the CEO of the credit union and had a conversation with her. Seems the head of teller is no longer with the credit union as of this week. Funny as she just told me last week she would accept the bags and never mentioned leaving. Now according to the CEO I can not bring in my bags nor can I buy bags any more. My limit now is "what we have available" Yesterday I was only able to get $20.00. Last few weeks I averaged $200. a week. Anyone else having this problem.

I'd be moving my money elsewhere. Anywhere that just fires their head teller... I've had banks where the head teller was moved to a different branch to straighten a different branch out. But to just fire one makes you wonder... how solvent is this financial institution i am dealing with.
