I know the talk of shortages comes up every now and then. I have yet to see one. That is why I posted this. Are any of you still experiencing any shortages? When I went to pay my dealer a visit on Monday, he had a bunch of silver. I mean a bunch. So many varieties of one ounce bars/rounds. I know there was at least 400 individual ones in the bin he had me look through. Even had a complete roll of what looked like "uncirculated" condition Liberty dollars or whatever they were/are called. I passed on those....

I have only had a chance to stop at my local dealer twice in the past month. He sells generic at spot. The first time I stopped he had nothing, the second time he had one round...
If those were the actual Liberty Dollar rounds (should say You must be logged in to see this link. on them somewhere) how much did he want for them? |

They were the real deal. Same pricing system as always. Everything in the bin was I think $17.20 each. Generic, gold plated, odd shaped, various countries coins, painted Eagles, homemade even, all kinds for the same price. Always that way. He has a lot of business so things come and go quick. Usually it just depends on when you are there.

| Dang, I would've grabbed those and, if nothing else, turned them around on eBay for a quick profit. They almost never sell for less than $20 - $21 each. Stick the whole roll up and only pay fees once. |

| No problems here. I just bought with a buddy of mine a little over $800 in silver (ASE's, Morgans, and halves). We got the halves at 11.65 times face, while the ASE's were around $18.50/each. The dealer had plenty left after we picked through it. |

I almost did. But there were other things I wanted more. So, are you saying that if I pick them up, you are a buyer? I'm not really into the Liberty dollar thing.

I really want to say yes, but I already spent my silver money for awhile (with all those eBay coupons). I'm not really into the Liberty Dollar thing much but I do have a few. My main point was quickly making $3 - $4 on each coin (I'm guessing a roll of 20 so theres $60 - $80) for about 10 minutes of work.
If you have them a month from now and the price is still the same as the other generic, let me know |

What's the deal with these EBay coupons? I have seen mention of them in other threads and on other forums. |

| There's way more silver around here than I can buy, so I guess that's plenty for me anyway. |
Are you throwing that out? |

Around here, back when silver was trading at $20 it was hard to find because everyone wanted it. Since it has gone down now, the pressure to buy has gone down and more of it seems to be available.
But let it start to go up again and watch it become unavailable. (locally)
Most if not all the shortage woes seems to be with the Major Silver trading companies. They sell to the entire world, to people who don't want the hassle of looking for it through small dealers. Some investors buy by the Thousands of ounces as away to hedge their portfolios, never taking possession. (until now)
People wanting to have physical possession have screwed up their little game.
The Major Silver trading companies did what Banks do,lend out 10x more than they possess and then reap the profits.(fractional banking, fractional silver trading)
The problem comes when people want what they Rightfully Own.

The shortages where I live aren't as bad as they were when silver was over $20, but this past week actually, the supply has tightened a bit. One can't be assured that a dealer will have silver, whereas just last year, it was a sure thing. Today I stopped by my favorite dealer, and all he had was 90% quarters. No rounds, eagles, or anything else. Another dealer had a few 10 ounce bars and some generics, but that was it.
It's real hit or miss, but the silver's still out there. |
