What is the average cost of the silver you have hoarded? Have you already profited big time or just getting in recently?

All the way from face to $5 oz to $14 and even up to $18 an OZ.

Cost? It is hard for me to say maybe $2000-$2500 over time.

The value...... Mah ha ha ha....!!!

I am not telling!

FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS ITS BEEN ON THE HIGHER SIDE IN RELATION TO SPOT.
5 OR 6 YEARS AGO I BOUGHT A COUPLE OF BAGS SO THAT BRINGS MY OVERALL COST AVERAGE TO ABOUT HALF OF CURRENT SPOT I WOULD GUESS. HAVENT REALLY THOUGHT ABOUT IT. IVE SEARCHED BOXES OF HALVES, QUARTERS,DIMES AND GOT A FEW AT FACE THAT WAY, SOME IN CHANGE OVER THE YEARS. I BUY SOME SILVER EVERY WEEK FROM 4 OR 5 DOLLARS YEARS AGO TO 20 DOLLARS A FEW MONTHS AGO. COST? HAVENT FORMALLY COUNTED IT ALL. SOME ARE IN ALBUMS, SOME IN PLASTIC ROLLS, SOME IN AMMO CANS. CONSERVATIVELY ID GUESS AT LEAST A COUPLE GRAND IN FACE VALUE.

I got into silver very recently. It was about the same time as copper. I currently have less than 20 face, but it was pulled from circulation or bought for face. I need to do some proper purchases though to get a "small hoard" up, not really as an investment but to preserve purchasing power for future dates.

Ack. A lot higher than i'd like, but i've mostly been getting coins with some collector value.

Considering Verizon Business service? Perhaps you'd like to consider a nice drain cleaner enema instead?

I don't count collector coins as silver, including my partial eagle collection, but my average price is about $7 an ounce. The average came down from "finds" and some silver I spotted way below market price. Used to be about $13.

Mines around 13ish. I also don't count my collector coins. I have my collection, and my hoard. My collection is not for sale. My hoard is open for wheeling and dealing if I see something I like.

Are you throwing that out?

I have over 100 oz and it cost me less than $3.50 per oz. All has been collected in the last 18 months from sorting.

Yeesh, ya'll got some low averages! I've only been collecting since January so my average is over $18 right now. However that includes several 1/10 ounce Engelhard Prospectors and a bunch of Liberty Dollars which all have premiums way above spot, and my hoard is pretty small. Now that I'm more informed from reading this forum I rarely pay premiums for more desirable pieces; instead whenever I buy I try to beat my average (like two 1-ounce 999 rounds I got on eBay last week for $8.70 each, shipping included ).

Lets see the 90% are costing me about $1.38 an oz and the around $3.40 an oz assuming my math is right. That doesn't take into account the time to find and sort the halves though. If you figured any hourly rate, then it would be higher. :)

"This is the shabby secret of the welfare statists' tirades against gold. Deficit spending is simply a scheme for the "hidden" confiscation of wealth. Gold stands in the way of this insidious process. It stands as a protector of property rights. If one grasps this, one has no difficulty in understanding the statists' antagonism toward the gold standard." Alan Greenspan, 1966.

lol, nckt I wish my mother would've did the same for me. If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? I ask because my little brother just started investing into eagles and he's only 11. I remember in '05 I had bought my first 100 ounce silver bar @ $12. I use to sleep with it, also eat with it and work out with it but then bills started to add up and so in '06 I sold it. I wish I was young, I would never have any expenses like I do now!
