What is your wheat percentage per 1,000 of unsearched coins from the bank and per only Cu coins?

Buying: Peace/Morgan G+ at $15.00 copper cents at 1.3X wheat pennies at 3X

It has been a while since I checked, but back in the day when I hand sorted 500k pennies from Brink's boxes I was finding about 8 wheats per box or 1 every 6 rolls and about 28% copper.
So in your terms that is about 3.2 wheats per 1000 unsearched pennies and about 11.4 wheats per 1000 coppers (1.14%).
In theory, I could pull out better than 1 wheat in 100 if I ever got the time to look through my Ryedale copper pile. Since I've hoarded about 530k coppers that means that I should have at least 5,300k wheats. That is more than enough to put together a full bag...cool. |

once I get a Ryedale, I think I will pay my 5-year old to sort through the coppers. I figure I'll offer him a nickel for every wheat he finds. If I do 4-6 boxes a week, that should give him about a buck extra spending money.
What is a common date Indian head worth - a quarter? |

| My percentage of wheats is 0.5% to 1% yield -ie- a wheat per 200 to 100 pennies sorted. I consider that good too. I have shifted my focus from finding good copper percentages to finding wheat pennies right now. I figure any mix of pennies that has wheat pennies will have a fair amount of copper anyway. I sure would like to know how my rolls from the bank are sourced. The other week I had a 1% yield on wheats. This week, the same bank is maybe 0.5% so far from sampling of the rolls I have done. Maybe when you get into the low percentage yield zone, the variance is huge. My copper yield does not fluctuate much from roughly 25% by way of comparison. |

I was averaging about 4-5 per $25 box till last week when I broke open 3 faded red CWR's and found out that they were all wheats. I went right back to the bank with one of the wrappers and asked if they had any more wrapped with these wrappers. The teller next to her said that she had 2 in her drawer that she hadn't used yet. I bought them and couldn't get back to my truck fast enough to open them (I've got the bug pretty bad). They were all wheat also |
When my wife got after me it sounded like "Blah,Blah,Blah", but now it sounds like "Clink,Clink,Clink". Its amazing what that Ryedale can do for a hounded husband. |

That's thinking on your feet M83striker. Congrats on the rescue! |
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

I usually get 10 or more a box. When it comes to CWR's, I rarely find one.

| Average of about 10-12 per box of 2500...so I think it's around 0.45%. |
My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.

Yep- 10-15 per $25 box is just right. When I get $50 FV in wheats, and 1 roll of indian heads, that I paid a grand total of $50.50 for, then I'll stop. : ) |
Only when they CAN'T have it, ......THEN they'll want it.
I love Cents. If you get an UNC box, you win. If you get a regular circ. box, you win. If you get a zinc box, you don't lose....so you still win. |

| About 8 per box. |
"Rich," the Old Man said dreamily, "is not baying after what you can't have. Rich is having the time to do what you want to do. Rich is a little whiskey to drink and some food to eat and a roof over your head and a fish pole and a boat and a gun and a dollar for a box of shells. Rich is not owing any money to anybody, and not spending what you haven't got." Robert Ruark

Same as TenBears per box and only 12 per $50 bag. IH's are about 1 per 100,000. |

| I usually get about 20 rolls at a time for hand sorting and usually find 5-7. |
Are you throwing that out? |

| This is a great question. For CWRs I average 10 per box. For Brinks I average 9 per box. The lowest has been 5, and the highest has been 15. It's only a total of 16 boxes though. |
