Wow, look at the growth in production of nickels. I can't wait to see the 2008 numbers. They may blow the 2007s out of the water.
I wonder why the penny production for 2006 is so high. |

I think the 2007 annual report was published on 28/04/2008, I expect that by May to see the same report for 2008.

I wish I could go back to Canada and hunt for Ni Nickels again! I had a lot of fun doing it last summer!! But I'm on the southern border now, and do see any likelihood that I'll get back into Canada before all the real nickel has been soaked up! |

I think its time to repeat the test I did a while ago and see how it goes this time. Although I have been sorting nickels I have not kept a strict record of the percentages.
So here I go again; the goal is "to collect C$100 .999 Ni at face value" and see how much and how long it takes.
Today I just bought a box of nickels and later this evening I will report my findings. |

Keep going jin.coy! Good luck reaching your goal. I haven't hunted any Ni for a long time now, a few months, and I want to get another box soon. It's actually a lot of fun. |

Wow, the percentages really are kinda low.... I think I had calculated my percentages way back when, and they were a bit higher than that... 12-20%... can't remember.
Still, it is a lot of fun. A bit more so than US nickels because of the varieties and the greater worth/value in the .999 nickels.
Keep up the good work! |

Seems like the Canadian .999 Ni has been removed. Was fortunate enough to acquire A LOT of it. |
The first panacea for a mismanaged nation is inflation of the currency; second is war. Both bring a temporary (and false) prosperity; both bring a permanent ruin. But both are the refuge of political and economic opportunities. |

1 box yielded: 157 Ni (7.85%)
And: 1x45 Victory nickel in nice condition, 20 U.S., no foreign, many 2005 World War II Victory Nickels (ironically)
Another bit of irony is that the 45 Victory nickel was in a roll that was short many coins. At first I thought, "what a cheapo, the guy didn't even fill this roll to 40 coins..." Then I saw the 45 and thought, "Baby! Thanks!"
But I was slightly disappointed with these results. We can see the Ni is really dropping off. My results from this particular bank have gone from 14.75% to 13.90% to 7.85%. The trend is definitely down.
Keep at it, score that Ni! Good luck. |
