We need to come up with a name for our club. The rational thinkers have a name (nothing else). Dues are real cheap. 1 IH cent. We don't hold elections, whoever has found the most IH for the year gets to be chief. I presume that Hoard has the most so far this year. Anyone close to catching him?

Still taunted after the Saturday sort.

"Rich," the Old Man said dreamily, "is not baying after what you can't have. Rich is having the time to do what you want to do. Rich is a little whiskey to drink and some food to eat and a roof over your head and a fish pole and a boat and a gun and a dollar for a box of shells. Rich is not owing any money to anybody, and not spending what you haven't got." Robert Ruark

Bagged me my 9th Indian of the year tonight! 1900 - VF.

And as anyone who's ever played Oregon Trail will tell you, Indians travel in groups!

Objects in the mirror are closer than they appear.

#10 - 1897, G.

Although I have to say, I'm very jealous of the 1859.

Found my first Indian Head tonight, a 1902! In the words of the Nature Boy Rick Flair….Woooo!

I figure it is the law of averages if you sort enough and keep a sharp eye out. Like others if I see a 1955 I strain hoping for a double die, none found yet!! Interesting I ran into a bunch of full red 1958 wheat pennies; it is like someone broke open a roll and mixed them in several boxes. As long as there is still copper in the penny supply there is hope. Happy Hunting!

Congrats on the first one CopperCatcher and welcome to the club. I like the wrestling quote. Rasslin' is poor man's balet~

Technically that 1859 is coppernickle, but it still qualifies.

Darn, only found 4 last week. Guess I better do another 50 boxes this week.

I found one! It's a 1907 dark, very slight corrosion, decent detail, I'd say vg, but after looking through thousands of pennies its beautiful. I found it in a $50 bag from a local bank.

I have no idea. You're easily sorting 5x the amount I am. But some places in the country have a higher copper percentage, so I figure that some places have a higher IH percentage.

Found my first Indian Head well sorting for coppers a 1907 in good shape. It is from a bag from the coin sorter at my local bank. I hand sort and dump part of the bag on my desk at a time. I noticed it while pulling out canadians that were sitting on top. Pretty exciting!

I've sorted 25,647 since starting and I have found no Indians, and only 7 pre-1940 wheats, the earliest being a 1929. Copper percentages are fine (right around 25%), and I found .5% common wheats, but nothing special.

However, I found 1 war nickel and 1 dateless buffalo in the one and only box of nickels I searched.

Am I looking in the wrong place? I live in the suburbs and am getting Brinks boxes.
