I haven't been counting to get an exact average but I consider 20% copper to be pretty good.

When I was counting by hand the most I ever saw was 25%, and there were occasions when I would see as low as 15%.

As far as I know there aren't any other sorters in my area.

I am lucky enough to still be pulling about 28-30%. For those getting only 20%, I give you credit for sticking with it.

My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.

I don't know if I should even say anything I don't want to jinx myself but my percentages consistently run between 30 and 35 percent and once in a while even higher.

If my percentages were to drop off to 17 or 18 percent I don't know if I would stick with it. I know I would be doing a lot less of it. That is why I am really pushing hard on it now before my percentages do drop off. I'm gettin while the gettin's good.

It may be me... i'm consistently below 20%, sometimes closer to 15%... i don't have a machine to sort and count, but i'll sit at my desk and do five rolls at a shot, then stack up the coppers to get ready to roll. i just did 5 rolls, and have 38 coppers to show for it, or 15.2%.

i think the fattest single roll i ever got was 16 coppers! These are mostly CWRs, with an occasional Brinks box thrown in.

For an even more dubious honor, i probably average 3-4% that are so corroded that the date cannot be read

Considering Verizon Business service? Perhaps you'd like to consider a nice drain cleaner enema instead?

I think MormonMetal may have that honor. He consistantly reports low percentages but he keeps plugging away at it.. saying "more than I had before." I like his style.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available.

Yes, I think MormonMetal is consistently in the 10% range, but he keeps plugging away; "More than [he] had before."

Rich is not owing any money to anybody, and not spending what you haven't got." Robert Ruark

I feel honored. I run right at 15% copper. I have to "turn and burn" (return zincs for more raw coins) pretty fast for my hoard to add up. The way I see it, is that I need to get copper at face while I still can. I've sorted $1,000's by hand and have built my copper hoard over two years. Every copper I add is "more than I had before". Slow and steady is how I roll.

I'm getting 15% too. My first box was 18%, then I got four boxes of duds, and everything else has been 15% to 16%.

A penny sorted is a penny earned!

Mormon, sorry, I misspoke. I had it in my mind that you were swimming in lower % waters. 15% is better than 10% and certainly more than you had before.

You may be poopping in your own supply. I would mark a few lbs of non value zinc obverse and back and see if you get any back. I found out I was getting my own back, even though I have a different source and dump credit union. Both use Brinks, and it only took 1 week to return some of mny marked coins, out of 3 lb marked. You may be able to do large pickups before you do large dumps if you find that you are getting some of your returned. Make sure you don't mark any decent looking coins that actually may have value.

I usually get only CWR from a Loomis supplied bank, and dump to a Brinks supplied bank.
