I just went through 20 rolls of Canadian pennies and found a statistical oddity--not one 2007.
I was planning (apart from the copper) to start collecting rolls of zincs of particular years. 2007 would have been the first, but there were none at all. I would have expected to find 55 with a standard deviation of about 6.
On the other hand, there were lots of 2006s. And here is another statistical oddity. I was able to assemble a full roll of brilliant zinc 2006s, and only found one steel 2006. Either the Mint has really blown it with their attempt to make steel pennies (you would think they could manage about half). Apart from the one steel 2006, the only steel pennies were from 2002 and 2003 (and there was one from 2004). Steel pennies accounted for < 5% of the total.
The rolls came from two different banks, so they weren't just part of one strange collection. (must have been two)
Were there any 2008s? Could be you just ended up with a load of pennies that were collected/rolled before 2007.
I'm pretty sure you are right. Rather it was two loads as they came from different banks. No, there were no 2008s. I picked up some more rolls today and can see a 2007 at the end of one.
I found an 07 canadian steel penny as well :(. The magnet on my ryedale cought it. I thought I had found another 43. And here it is a lowley can steal :(.
I'm in the US as well, so shipping would suck. But IIRC the penny looked AU.
