Logik out
I deal with alloy's in coins as they pertain to coin machines on a daily basis. I haven't found a machine that I could calibrate closely enough to exclude war nickels form others with any consistency, all though I have really tried. So, I'd say you'll get your war nickels however your nickels come, bagged or rolled. It doesn't mean it can't be done, just that it probably isn't being done. |

I'm not quite as lazy as I seem, (but almost). I've read a few of the last pages of this thread and I'm trying to figure out how many "keeper" nickels there might be, (on average) in a $200 bag of nickels. I have many nickels I could look thru or have someone look thru, but don't know if it could be profitable, or just a potentially nice paying hobby. Any thoughts??? |

My stats compared to others on here are really pitiful. But, as you know, this is merely a hobby for me. Something to do to take up the minutes and hours of every day while Mr. PTP works and I am stuck at home. I look for anything interesting I can find.
If you could find some 2009 nickels that are still in unc. condition I believe those are bringing some money on eBay. I found one last year. Since the mintage was so low for 2009 on nickels and dimes, could there be a possibility that they may someday be worth similar to the 1950D nickel? I haven't seen actual numbers yet myself but am hearing rumors that the mintages were "back in the 50s" numbers, which is still a lot but soooooooo much lower than our recent years.

$14 BWR and $86 CWR for $100 total
2 (42) war 5 Pre 82 .999 NI
1 BU roll of 2005P buffalo. Came from a string roll, is there any premium on these in BU condition? One of the war nickels came in a roll that had 9 1940's nickels and 2 1950's nickels. Based on recent discussion about what to keep I dumped my 60-63 nickels in rolls to return. I had 2 full rolls and 4 extra coins from those. Of the 59 and earlier I had about $2.50 worth of keepers left. I think it really shows how easy to come by the post 1960 nickels are. That was before I found about 20 more keepers in the second half of these rolls. I also had about 12 82 and later canadians. |
