Should I keep my Mens' Diamond RIngs? the problem is each one is .5KT or half a carat and I paid $1000 each full retail, they are beautiful but if I were to sell them say on e-bay or craigslist, I'd probably get at the most $200 to $300 if I'm lucky. Should I stash them away with my pennies, quarters, silver, gold or sell them and get more "junk" metal?
Also how can I post pics on this forum?

I'd keep them, especially if you can't get a good price for them now. Diamonds are a better place to have yr money tied up than FRN's. stocks, bonds or other paper. They will still be rare (perhaps even MUCH harder to find) WTSHTF. I keep a few loose diamonds and rubbies in my hoard, because it's good to have a variety of hard assests. |

Masybe you could ebay them and get a better price. I'm not into diamonds or gem stones as investments. Man made lab. stones can fool even the experts at times.

I don't personally own any precious stones. I am sure you can find good deals on them if you really know what you are doing so you don't get ripped off, but I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between cubic zirconia and a real diamond. Even if it was real, I wouldn't know how much I should pay for it. If you really know what you are doing in that area it might not be bad to have some as part of your stash, but I am sticking with Ag/Au/Cu/Ni because I know what I am doing with it, and am reasonably confident about spotting fakes.
If I already had a few like you do and I knew they were real I would probably keep them just for variety's sake.

I usually go to tinypic.com (its free) and upload a saved image for hosting there. You use the [IMG} [IMG} image tags for the url they give you for your pic and then just copy and paste it into your post. It will show up like this:

I also have a big jar where I keep hemetities, quartz crystals, other shiny exotic rocks that are easy to buy for cheap right now (because of their near ubiquity thanks to chaep oil transportation) but that could become valueable in a barter economy because of their rarity, small size and natural beauty. |

I agree with trying out Ebay if you decide to get something else. If they don't go as high as you want, have a friend bid on them so you won't lose them. BUT...keeping them definately has it's advantages. If TSHTF, chances are finding rings will be pretty darn hard, so they'd go for a premium then. Or you could disassemble them, keep the diamonds and add the ring to the scrap pile if you buy up scrap metals to sell off to refineries. All up to you of course!

Here are a couple rings, I have, I like the ideas you guys had about just keeping them for diversity sake plus I can always remove the diamonds and the bands on these things are solid 14k and HEAVY.
Also take a look at my Bracelet, it's 14k and 2.28 oz or over 70 grams whichever helps you. Should I keep it or sell and buy gold/silver bullion? What would be better WTSHTF?

I traded some broken 14k gold rings a while back for silver eagles. I still have some 18K gold heavy chains and rings that I decided to keep. Gold is gold and they will always go up in value.

I would keep them, if TSHTF you can always barter with them in some form. |

Cool ideas, also when you buy diamond rings, they only charge you the price of the diamonds so the value of the Gold is negligible, I was gonna try and sell them and have nothing but some kugers, and some silver, but Rings can sometimes bring in more of a price than the minerals they represent.......I think I'll keep em.....
