Help! As i'm "Hooked" for now. Would welcome some ideas where and how to store my collection of sorted coppers. Every week I seem to accumulate another gallon size ziplock bag and would like to store for long haul. Basement is no use it floods. No attic access. Concerned about them corroding.Figure to save them for years possibly retirement or until enough to convert to other PM's. Goal One ton or more...

Put them into plastic containers. If your basement floods don't worry, they won't float. |

I was thinking of getting one of those vacuum bag sealing devices but was wondering if there is any need to do this or if I should put some cotton in with the cents? Looking for ideas for long term storage in cardboard boxes. |
My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.

The only problem with the kitty litter buckets is that they are HEAVY when full of copper.
My cats use Tidy Cat and the litter comes in buckets that hold 27 pounds of cat litter.
Same bucket holds about 110 lbs of copper.
These days it's a challenge for me to lift that much, so I've got to find a place to put them where they can sit for a long time. Too heavy by far to get into the attic, and I don't know if I want to store them outside. Maybe in the storage room outside but I'd rather them be in the house. Well, I'll figure it out, and I can always sell some if they get to be too much to store. |

I vacuum seal the Brinx boxes after they're reloaded. This is especially warranted for your finer Cu (if you sub-sort like I do). |

I bag into $50 bags then put the bags into the 2 1/2 gal Donut Bucket for waterproof & stacking.
this way they are already broken into measured units and I dont have lift all the weight all at one time.

Even in a Sealed cat litter bucket wouldn't moisture still affect (corrode) them if I place them in the basement? |

When I go back to work I'm going to get those moisture pack things as I never had a need for them. You could leave the lid cracked on them as I doubt you regularly get over 18" of water in your basement. D |

I roll mine and put them in $25.00 bricks and stack them in my basement. It makes it real easy to see what my inventory is and it will be easy to sell them when I want to start doing that. And WTSHTF a roll or two of copper might buy a gallon of milk or a loaf of bread. |
COPPER - the "poormans" precious metal!!!
SELLING - $100.00 face copper shipped to you for $189.00 machine rolled or bagged - PM me if your interested. |

I use plastic 1 gallon milk jugs. They hold $50 in cents and have a built in handle. I put a small pack of scilica gel in with the cents to absorb moisture, then I melt the plastic cap to the plastic jug with a torch to keep it air tight. |
