Not particularly.

Some of the older 60's pennies are pretty shiny too. I'm guessing they've been out of circulation for a long time.

No shiny wheats yet.

1974s are particularly shiny in my neck of the woods.

Some of those shiny copper pennies will fool you. If I sorted by shine alone I would have missed out on a lot of them.

1980-82 (latest coppers)
1979
1968 (usually it's an 'S')

At first I kept getting 1977 pennies that looked like solid brass and shiny as new.I never save them, but have been thinking maybe I should. Are they really worth more then a common CU cent anyways?

It is nice to get a 70's, 60's or even a rare 50's penny that still has some shine on it.

I get a lot of 81's with a nice shine.

Right now I'm committing the ultimate numismatic sin by soaking my wheaties in some acetic acid (not glacial, about 50% volume/volume with water) for a day to get them all shiny. I know from a collectable point of view that's not supposed to be done but I'm just keeping them for fun, I won't try to pass them off as fine or whatever the classification would be if they were untreated.

I've been getting a lot of "shiny" older (pre 60's) pennies. I think people are hitting the penny jars and piggy banks for money.

I'm working on 100 rolls of someone's penny jar by weight/sight. Shiny everywhere - nothing newer than 1984. Zincs looking nice. Coppers look almost uncirculated and over 50%.
Should I segregate the AU shiny coppers from the rest of the coppers? How about saving the 82-84 new zincs

Every so often I get a box or two loaded with a strange bunch of older uncirculated. I don't know if they are from coin hunters searching for errors and then dumping the rest or if the Fed's or Brink's just occasionally dig out an old stash and throw it in the mix. Anyhow here is what I am finding today:

I just throw all the coppers together. Only the best of the best are kept separate.

I saw the 1979 topic and have noticed the same thing that they are in great shape. In fact when visually sorting I can miss those where any other you can tell at a glance
