Deal
Yes, I noticed it right away. A male teller was getting it for me and it didn't appear that it was heavy. I thought, 'Oh, no here comes my first skunk.' But when I got it in my hands I knew I had something there.
I hope there really are pennies in all of those boxes I'm buying. |

You could open one at random just to be sure
At least you are weighing them. Imagine if you saved them all up then found out you had a stack of duds. |
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

I had to make a couple of quick trips to Las Vegas last week so I thought I would do some banking. My parents live on the west side so I picked a long blvd. I drove about 10 miles stopping at every bank.
Every bank had halves and most had hand rolled cents.
Here is the breakdown on the cents (also got 7 - 40% halves)
Bought $39.00 in cents .13¢ wheats $5.98 copper $32.74 zinc .10¢ dime .05¢ short (really 15¢ short)
so that breaks down to 15.5% copper in south west NV. Where I live I am at around 18%

Plowed through one more box of pennies today...
2500 pennies searched 781 1959-82 Cu pennies 8 Wheat cents 16 Canadian cents
The numbers were lower than usual for Cu and wheat cents, and much higher than normal for number of Canadian cents in a box. Oh well.
Also bought some stuff from coin community: 4 silver quarters, 4 silver halves, 1 silver dollar, 1 silver dime and some proof and mint sets on Ebay. |

8 rolls Canadian pennies - 171 Cu (42.75%), including 3 wheaties (1 in each of the first three rolls) - 26 steel (6.5%) - which is a lot lower than expected if all pennies after 1999 are steel - the rest were zinc, including about 80% of the pennies after 2000. 30 rolls Canadian nickels - 270 Ni (22.5%) - the kids helped so it took three times as long as usual. 6 rolls Canadian dimes - no silver, 151 Ni (50.2%) |
