Got the $300 in Brinks boxes sorted. all weighed 14.5-15lbs.
Dates and Brinks employees
3 from Alice Feb 28 08 3 from Dudley March 5th 08 2 from Marrio March 6th 08 1 from Marrio undated 3 from Eddie March 10th 08
$83.96 in CU [27.986%] 5 dimes
Every Brinks box I'm getting in this area is between 24-30% CU, no duds yet, even on the boxes packaged as recently as last Monday. Still a lot of wheats and dimes in them too.

I guess those Brinks guys and gals that pack mine are so ashamed of what they are giving me that they won't put their name on the box. Are you guys going to start cutting off the flaps and using them as trading cards? |
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

50 wheat (of them, 30 where 1949 S... comon date but not that comon.... I suspect I got only part of a persons dated roll or... my eyes are getting worse at finding the wheats and I missed 20 of them!)
either way 34.49% is a good night.

I've had good luck with the Alice and Eddie boxes.
Whereabouts are you at? I'm in Louisville, KY.
The reason I've been using the names and dates is to try to see if there's a big difference in sorts on the same day by 2 different employees [likely using two different machines] and to see if anyone else gets the same names and what city their in to see how wide the distribution from that Brinks location is. Also if anyone pulls any dud boxes if you've got the name and date that might be helpful to others.
I've gotten several Bahamas pennies and 3 Cincinatti transit tokens in my Brinks boxes lately.
Here are the totals for todays sort of $200.00
Overall 5424/20000 27.12%
PNC handwrapped rolls 272/1000 27.2% Chase handwrapped rolls 348/1500 23.2%
Brinks - Alice March 3rd 1335/5000 24.7% Brinks - Dudley March 5th 2234/7500 29.8% Brinks - Barry March 13th 1335/5000 26.7%

For the past six or seven weeks I've been buying $10 of nickels and $10 of pennies each week at the bank. The nickels go into the hoard, and I manually sort the pennies. Last week I averaged about 20% copper, and found one 1919S penny, one WWII steel penny, and three Canadian copper pennies.
At the bank this morning the lady behind the counter had to open a new $25 box of pennies to get my $10. She did this on top of the counter, so I could see one end of each of the rolls in the box. All shiney and new. Sure enough, when I got my 20 rolls home, they were all brand new 2008 zinc slugs. Better luck next week. |

I am hand sorting myfirst "large batch" of $115 in CWR this week and will post my results.
I told my mom about my new hobby and she said I should come get my grandpa pennies. She didn't have to tell me twice. He had a cigar box of $20 face value in pennies that he put away in 1982 (probably due to the composition change) and he had put away 400 wheat pennies in 1960 (the tin was marked. The wheats are cool. The oldest is 1920 and many of them still have some mint luster to them. |
