Got $10 of pennies yesterday, finished em with my sister in half an hour, so I got a box later, went through that and found an 1899 Indian in the middle! Dad looked it up, saw one in similar condition for like $4.
It was funny, at first I thought it was a Canadian since it looked different, without actually examining it, and thought it said 1999, but it looked way to old to be a 1999 so I looked again and say an 8 instead :p

None for me yet....

Talk about beginners luck!

Hey wait, I'm a beginner too, so send me some of that luck.

I'm almost through with the last box of three I had from yesterday, and I went out this morning (Saturday) and bought $15 worth of pennies, all that I could get. That will put me at nearly $250 sorted by eye since I started week-before-last.

Monday I'll have over $75 of zinc to turn in.

Next week I'm expecting a check to clear, as soon as it does I'm buying the Ryedale and my 1st $1,000 batch.

Then the real fun begins!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

It is exciting to find a penny over 100 years old in circulation, Huh?

where did you get the $10? was it from a bank or other location that you may get more from???

Sometimes those old coins run in packs like wolves.

PP

Happy Prospecting!

Very nice! I have done 17000 pennies (340 rolls - 6 full boxes plus twice picking up 20 rolls) with no Indians.

My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.

I've done at least $2000 worth, STILL haven't found one in a box/bag....

Based on my experience, I expect to find one Indiana Head Cent for every 1/4 million cents searched. How does that measure up with everyone else?

The ratio would be 1 Indian Head found per around 100,000 pennies searched for me. For some strange reason I also tend to get a high percentage of Wheats in my Brinks boxes (1-2 per roll on average).

i thought this was a little odd... on one roll of pennies, there was a 1946 on one end, and a canada one on the other end.
thought this was a little strange.
