My goal is at least 20 tons...I'll hit 4 tons by April 1, 08. I've accelerated my current pace to 10,000 lbs of Cu/yr....so about 4 more years to go...if it all holds up. If the percentage srarts to crap out, I start hoarding Zinc and Nickels as well...Zn penny will be sound inside the next 2 years...5 cent piece is currently sound due to Ni content - but I'm skeptical one will ever get the alloy value of of the 5 cent....I see these as simply a copper content play..so the 5 cent is not really sound in my view until $4.50/lb copper....

Just dumped 16 boxes of sorted zinc today...wonder if some unlucky hoarder will win this "prize"....

I do have a bit of concern on my garage floor at 20 tons....I'll have to do a bit of research to determine the load limits.

I sorted my lightest box i've acquired of late, that wasnt a dud ....about 14lb and 12 oz...including box weight.
It produced 22% only 5 wheats and 3 Canadians.

That was better than I was expecting.

Still no Indians :( (well, just that one corroded dateless one...but it hardly counts and from a CWR)

"May your percentages ever increase!"

C140,
I wonder if there is anyone with HUGE money just buying up the nickels for the hell of it?Order like 100 boxes a week and just sit on them.5 yrs they have 2.5 mil. in nickels, which to them would be a drop in the hat.

Sorted a box for the first time in several months. Still good percentages in Texas.

486 copper
1 Canadian
90 1982s
8 wheat

When considering at least half of the 82s are copper, sorting percentage for copper is still above 20%.

20 rolls Canadian nickels

219 Ni (27.4%) - higher than usual. There were several rolls that clearly came from an older population (somebody's old jar of coins) as they had no steel, but none were really old either.

Wow! what a night!
I broke 2 records tonight!

Most wheat found in 1 bag & longest time to sort 1 bag.

432 wheat!!! (4.32% wheat!) oldest 1920 but, Almost all are 40's & 50's

1- 1972 25 paise India
1- 1983 bermuda penny

2-28-08 batch
$70.00 sorted
customer wrapped rolls
1,555 copper
24 wheats
60 Canadian
2 dimes
22.21 percent copper

My percentages have picked up well this year. Last year my averages were between 15 and 18, this year's averages are around 23 percent. Appears to me that the current economic downturn has motivated a lot of people to cash in their coin jars.

I did a drive buy this morning. Two taped Brinks boxes. Both weighed in at 15 pounds each.

The dime boxes are usually either the $250 variety or the $500 double box. Maybe they had the dimes in racks. I am picking up a couple hunred in CWR dime rolls tomorrow.. one of my banks called me and they have those and about a box of CWR nickels.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available.

Ten rolls Canadian nickels . . .

SKUNKED! All ten rolls of pristine, untouched by human hands, stainless steel 2008s, fresh from the Mint. Into the time capsule they go for 200 years . . .
