My wife thinks that I've lost my mind. For the last couple of years I've been giving plasma and making $50 a week. She now thinks I'm even crazier because I'm using the blood from my body for cash and in turn use the cash to buy pennies. I've tried to explain the entire coinflation thing to her but she basically just tolerates my sorting. It helps that I can only handsort about $50 a week anyways. I've tried to slip the Ryedale into several penny discussions, but she just doesn't care how it could help my sorting. I'm trying to get enough CU to fund a Ryedale, almost there too. |
When my wife got after me it sounded like "Blah,Blah,Blah", but now it sounds like "Clink,Clink,Clink". Its amazing what that Ryedale can do for a hounded husband. |

And here I thought I was dedicated, but you really shed blood for your pennies M82striker!
I truly hope you are able to buy a Ryedale soon and step up your rate, but please don't bleed yourself dry doing it.
You are hardcore! |

But you can't sell off enough blood to fund that level of a penny habit M83striker. I funded my Ryedale with proceeds from my hand sorting of copper also.. good idea. Go ahead and get one.. it's always easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.. LOL.
Curious.. you have had "several" penny discussions with her? We don't discuss pennies much at my house.. LOL. |
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.
Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available. |

I have to agree with the crowd! If you are willing to sell blood to fund this hobby, you are the penny hoarding King!
Just curious, how many pints are needed to sell to fund the Ryedale?

That is exactly what we call it at our house "Blood Money". Its really not that bad! I give plasma twice a week and 880ml every time. So I'm only giving about 1760ml (0.46 Gallons) a week. I figure that I'd have to give 56,320ml or 14.87 gallons to afford an Apprentice. Believe me, when they stick that IV into my arm all I can think about is that famous "clink-clink" that you guys talk about all the time when your talking about your Ryedales. Someday I won't be handsorting my pennies with bandages on my arms, until then this Marine will be doing whatever I can to get those darn pennies. |

Striker, I gotta give you a lot of credit for coming up with a way to get that Ryedale. Not only will you end up with a Ryedale, but think of all the lives you are saving by donating all that blood. The only thing is after giving blood twice a week for 8 months to come up with enough money to get one your arms are going to look like a pin cushion. You might want to sell off some of the copper you are hand sorting to speed up the process, and save your arms. Not that I am telling you to quit giving blood altogether, that is a wonderful thing to do and more people should do it. I see you are Marine or are an ex-Marine, just wanted to say Thanks for serving this country. Good luck with the donating and keep us up to date on how it is going.
