Dropped $10 in zinkees at the filling station today---along with a $10 note. Twenty clams ain't what it used to be.

I spent the previous night rolling a bunch of my change. I hadn't done this in a while, and I forgot who relaxing it is.

Yep.. very relaxing.. just drop them in the rolling machine, hit the button.. and sit back and relax.

Can't toss them off a bridge like glenn suggests.. I could take out a boat that way. I can imagine it now.. the coast guard comes to investigate.. the guy says "we were just sailing under the bridge and this thing that looked like a giant bag of pennies came right out of the sky and punched a hole right through the boat.. then we sank.

Guess I will just haul them to the bank.. I need the money.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Or- just give them to the teller like I do and say "The machine won't accept these - can you replace them?" They have never turned me down. At least it saves postage to the mint.

Figured out a way to MAKE certain local gas stations take as many zinc's for gas as you want. Around here there are gas stations named Q.T., or QuikTrip. All pumps around here are the pre-pay type. At these stations, they offer a free "PumpStart" card. It allows you to get the pump turned on without prepaying. You put this in the credit card slot, and it activates the pump. You then go inside and pay....Set a personal record for zinc disposal at a store/gas station. $35. Could have done more, but it was my first time....You should have seen their faces when I dropped the pennies on the counter. One girl even asked, "What are you doing?" I told them it was all I had on me. They took them, reluctantly. How can they refuse? Not like I was going to steal the gas. I had $35 of legal currency. Give it a try....

Deal

That is a great story! Oh how I wish I could have seen their faces. Imagine the hits you could get if you had a video on UTube of this.

You now have the single transaction record. You have certainly set the bar a little higher for the rest of us.

Congratulations!

Maybe I am a monster. See, I ONLY roll pennies to spend them places. My dump bank is a loose/no limit type of bank. Oh yeah, all the rolls were rolled in my Royal Sovereign, and they didn't look at any rolls....shock and awe....

There's a little restaurant in my building, and I eat there regularly. Great food, and I'm friends with the owner. I stopped in tonight for dinner, and noticed that my friend looked very agitated. "What's wrong?" I asked him.

He nervously explained, "We're getting slammed tonight. The line's been out the door all evening, the banks are closed, and I'm running out of pennies!"

He he he he......little does he know.

"How many pennies do you need?" I asked.

"As many as you have!"

He he he he......fiatboy to the rescue!

"Ok, I'll be right back." I came back a few minutes later with a dollar's worth to start him out, and then returned an hour later with a $25.00 box.

His eyes got really wide when he saw that box.

He thanked me profusely and told me that if I ever needed to get rid of change, to just bring it next door and I could cash it in.

"Saves us both a trip to the bank," he said.

"And you don't mind this many pennies?"

"No way. Bring me as many as you want. I'll have to use them eventually. And if you have any other coins, I can always use them, too."

My new "dump bank" is now 10 seconds away and open till 2 in the morning, and I don't even have to go outside.

That is a great story fiatboy! It's nice when you can help a guy out and get rid of your pennies at the same time. You are saving him gas, aggrevation, and possibly bank fees.

Last week I was flooded with tons brand new fedboxs of 2007 denver pennys. I went to buy choped beef plate of food to eat for around 7 bucks total. I know the man working there and I sold an him an brand new fedbox of 2007 zincs for face and used the money to buy my food to eat . He told me that will last an long time since sometimes peaple will be pay him with serval rolls of pennys for food. I got my food and 18 bucks in dollars. I cant complain since I dont need an brand new unopened fedbox 2007 denver pennys since I have serval boxs already laying around. I guess sometimes I can get rid boxs of those coins I dont want.

I know I could sold on ebay for around 30 to 40 bucks on those. But after listing fees and paypal fees, trip to post office how much money could I make doing it ? I have two more boxs on those I need to dump. I cant use them since I dont need them. I needed old coin boxs becides those. On used junk zincs I dont roll them anymore and just dump into bank machices since it more trouble than its worth to roll them where you can use them someplace. Its takes hours to roll up an box these days. I quit rolling them up after I search them. They all go back to bank machice .

Chevrolet454ss

I love those fed boxes and hoard up pre 64 silver coins such as rolls of 64 half dollers. Maybe copper will be very expensive such as silver is.

opened a new account today for the sole purpose of dumping zinc. chose the bank because its relatively new and no one is ever there so i figured theyd appreciate my business. told them upfront i would be bringing in a lot of coin - mostly pennies - and would deposit it all to my account. started them off with around $75 of zinc and they seemed blown away that anyone in their right mind would have that many pennies.

hopefully if i dont overwork them they will come through for me. if not i guess wait 90 days and close the account. having a good zinc disposal would really help me up my sorting. now if only i had more cash.....

My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.

Well, mission accomplished....barely. I went to the same store but they had different employees. Pumped my gas. Went inside with my two boxes. They looked at me like I was carrying bombs or something. I told them I had $50 on pump 6. He then looked in the boxes. I must say, he was not impressed what-so-ever. "What am I supposed to do with these?", he asked in a very "assey" voice. I don't do well with stupid people, and he hit the stupid mark....So, I basically told him that I didn't care where he put it. Then he asked how does he know if they are all there. I told him we could count them, as I had nothing to do tonight....At this point a crowd had gathered. I think he saw that I wasn't bluffing. He reluctantly took them and put them under the counter. Time to go....

I did get rid of them but it was kind of a hassle. I have to admit, once he balked at taking them, I enjoyed cramming them down his throat. Well, until next weeks gas trip....

Deal

p.s. At this rate I'll be asking you guys for bail money, in zincs of course....

I can see it now. The gas station attendants printing out pictures of certain cars from the security cameras and posting the pics up on the board like the most wanted posters at the post office. "IF THIS CAR ROLLS UP, SHUT DOWN THE PUMPS!"

I'm afraid if I walked into the store with $50 in pennies AND a video camera they might act even more hostile. Maybe I need an accomplice....
