I went to my local bank branch friday to buy some pennies. They only had enough for businesses and completly ran out of nickels. Then I went to the bank next door and 1 of 4 tellers had enough pennies to meet my demand, like pulling teeth.
Coincidence (i hope)? Anyone had difficulty getting change from their local banks last friday?

You need to pre order them to guarantee, most of the time, a penny supply....

| That would bother me if I had to go to 4 tellers.I actually have 3 banks ordering me $100 each so that should keep me busy for awhile. |
Buying CU cents!!!! Paying 1.2 unlimited amounts wanted. Can pick up if near Ohio area. |

| i've found out that my bank orders them on tuesday and they come in on thursday. I go in on monday and ask because they're only allowed a certain amnt. of pennies a week or something. |

I can place an order any business day by 11:00 am, and have it in two business days. Works like this at all the banks I buy from.

| Most of the banks here order coins on Monday or Tuesday and get delivery Tuesday or Thursday. That's probably what you're running into. I have several banks adding boxes to their order for me and they always have them for me. |

I run into that occasionally. Seems some of them are only allowed a certain amount of pennies per week.  |

This has happen to me recently, so became a member at another bank down the road only to find out they will only take 5 CWR per a member at one time. They want you to use their coin machine in the lobby at a 5% fee. So they dont have pennies or any coins on hand for that matter. And they send out all the bagged stuff.
So already 2 banks are down in my town. |

I ask the banks for the bags. Those that have been brought in from the local area. They have a much higher copper rate, and I don't spend time unrolling each roll. Saves a bit of time. It just takes getting a good enough relationship with that bank to call me when they have a few bags.
Being a nice really helps, plus it saves them money. The bank I use the most hires a kid to roll cents for them. I just cut into his allowance. |
