NASA says the moon will be exceptionally close to the Earth this Saturday night. A rare celestial event, called a perigee moon, will make the moon look larger than usual. This is because when the moon is at perigee, it is closest to the Earth. The "extra full" moon will have more of a gravitational pull which contributes to higher tides or greater variation in the high and low tide.
