"THR & Associates, the company that runs Treasure Hunters Roadshow operations, is based in Illinois and has an A-rating from the Better Business Bureau of Central Illinois. It has received 11 complaints in the last 36 months, 10 of which have been resolved."
The company has purchased more than $250 million of precious metals, collectibles, antiques and historical items, according to a press release.
These are the guys I buy alot of junk silver Barbers and Standing Liberty's from on ebay ! I was wondering where they got all their stuff They have five or six seller ID's and run thousands of auctions, with ten or more similar listings expiring nearly simultaneously daily, under one seller or another. They always have old stuff... but they must send their newer silver items straight to the smelter as they never list any?

Oh wow...I've bought a bunch (well a bunch for me) of stuff from them...and I always marveled at their gigantic operation and wondered how they got so much coin. I never connected the dots that THR=Treasure Hunters Roadshow. |

I have often thought it would be nice (if I had the brass for it) too set out in front of one of their hotel operations paying just a little more. |

Well Chris, I guess you got your wish. By buying their listings on ebay you are doing just that. It's just a more convoluted process than setting up a card table out front (besides, I think they would frown on that ). Also, you're correct about those multiple ID's. BTW, I am not badmouthing their enterprise, I've never had a problem with my purchases and I happen to like the way they list their auctions, you can get some good deals, because after the first win they generally only add an extra dollar for the next one (as long as they're within three day period, and you notify them what you are doing). I suppose it's a good thing that they exist, people aren't forced to accept their offers, but it's a prime example of "from weak hands to strong hands," etc... and they do go to the trouble of traveling the country, well-capitalized, to procure the silver and other stuff we are interested in. So does that make us buyers like a bunch of hungry fledglings with craning necks crying "cheap, cheap, cheap" as we wait for Mama Vulture to feed us? |

Dude! (and dudesses )... check this out! You won't believe the volume of business these guys are conducting. This page is just five days worth of transactions, and mostly THR related:

Wow You can get some decent prices just by low-balling and being persistent. I'm sure the Barber halves and Standing Liberty quarters afford the same opportunity for buying under melt There's so much volume that even bigger buyers will need to step back once in awhile. Good op for ASE's too (listed in lots of five) |

Wouldn't you need a license to do that? Or you could be arrested for loitering, trespassing? |
