Today, I picked up a box of halves.
It didn't have any silver :-(
However, it had:
5 2009 halves
2 2010 halves
4 2005 halves
1 2006 halve
1 2004 halve
1 2007 halve
1981 proof and 1978 proof
Is it worth saving the 2004 to 2010 halves?
This is the 1st time I have found any 2010 halves

| Not really. Lower mintage coins intended for collectors. Unless they are MS shape I toss them back. I dont think coin dealers or ebay give much if any of a premium. |

| I don't save any of these years. However i did keep a 2010 simply because i was shocked to see one already. I think people here do buy them for a slight premium. But at this point it's kind of like holding BU LMC zinc pennies right now. |

If you have the cash and are willing to wait, they may have some value. But probably not as we are entering a new economy where those interested in collecting will dwindle to an eccentric few. Look at all the previous times of financial turmoil, the coins from that time period are slick, well worn. So you would have to wait to see if prosperity returns.
Halves are out of circulation now. It would be a dark curiosity to see if the ugly pennies, dollar coins and clad halves see more use in the next 5 years. The pennies turn to crap just sitting around on dressers.
BTW, as a collector, I save them but would spend them if I get in trouble.
It's just another method of putting some money aside.
If it all goes to crap, hoard nickles to hold value.
