I decided to sort through a really dirty $50 bag this morning and hoped to just find some CU but to my surprise there in the zinc reject pile was a genuine 1909 VDB lincoln cent. I really couldn't believe it since wheat cents are few and far between in the boxes and bags I get. Then another surprise in the zinc pile, a 1907 IH in really nice condition. Decided I better hand sort this bag. Not sure what the 1909 vdb is worth but looks to be in fair condition. I actually found something worth hanging on to. Will try to send pictures later and maybe someone can help me with the worth of it.

Do you mean a 1909 VDB or a 1909 VDB-S? |

If its a VDB-S, you gotta post some pics. |

OOPS! A little over excited over the fact that it was a 1909 and the VDB is a little worn. It is a VDB. |

I don't know how these prices line up with greysheet, or actuality, or anything else, but Numismedia says it's worth over $8 if it reaches a grade of G4. Check it out here: You must be logged in to see this link. |

Today I pulled a regular 1909 out of a machine roll. I'm not knowledgeable about numismatics, but it looked to be in pretty decent shape for its age. The date was readily discernible. Can anyone give me an approximation of its value? Thanks.
PS- Congrats on the VDB score! |

It may not be the Holy Grail of penny sorting but it sure is a great find. |
