Bought a new lawnmower this weekend, so now I have 2 others that need to go, one does not crank the other has to be pushed now, are they worth taking to scrap yard? If so any prep work and what price range?

Lawnmowers have value beyond scrap for people who can repair and resale them. I know at least a half dozen people who do this.

I would check craigslist for folks who buy lawnmowers, etc. to repair them,

As mentioned, an intact mower is worth more for repair or parts than scrap. Only scrap them if they're totally rusted or blown up, and even then there could be a few parts worth saving.

Many yards will buy intact mowers - plastic, wheels and all - as light iron/shredder scrap. Around $0.03 - $0.05/lb right now at yards near me.

Some facilities require the fluids to be drained first.

Separate small motors are usually bought as mixed steel/aluminum, which pays more than normal steel.

Some mowers have a solid aluminum deck, which is worth separating. Again, make sure it's beyond repair first because an aluminum deck mower is fine investment!

I just got hold of an old blown out one and tore it down. Turns out the body was aluminum. I took the engine completely apart and scavenged every bolt. Part of the engine was aluminum also. If no one buys it for repair, tear it down and get your metals separated and get your money's worth. Enjoy.

I've sold two blown up riding mowers on Craigslist. Both went the same day I listed them. The guy I sold the second one to, gave me his card and told me he'd buy any mowers I got.

Are you throwing that out?

I probably scrapped a half dozen mowers in the Spring for roughly $5 in scrap each before a friend told me he would pay a minimum of $15ea for mowers that weren't visibily trashed.

Put your old mowers on CL and they'll disappear quickly at $20ea.

I found a Black and Decker leaf blower in the trash; I plugged it in but it doesn't work.

How much do you think those go for on craigslist?
