We had 2 incidents involving the theft of copper wire. The 1st was from the cables that supply power to carnival rides. They got away with 15 K of cu wire. The 2nd was from a spare transformer, they broke into the transformer, took the cu wire and the oil that was in the transformer leak into a nearby stream and then into Lake Ontario. What a mess.
yeah transformer in the street are full of oil, it act as a heat sink. and this oil is very toxic, at least here in canada, i saw one explode a few years ago in a nearby street, they had to dig a few feet of the ground to remove all the burning hot oil (but no flames) that leak of it. it was look like a huge environmental deal.
