$100 in Brinks Boxes

2637 Cu
26.3%

Picked up 10 boxes in Saturday. Should have seen the tiny girl wheeling the dolly out....earning her money for sure. Pennies were probably heavier that her.

Ha ha. I was telling my co-workers friday that sorting pennies is my 'fix' after took a quick trip to the bank on my 'lunch' break (more like a penny-sorting break). What a wonderful thought: addicted to something and you never lose a dime!

Only sorted 7 boxes today. Had to roll up a bunch of zinc to fund my zinc disposal adventures. Got tired of emptying the roll bin so I rigged up one of the machines to shoot the rolls across the workbench and drop into a kitty litter bucket.

Sorting report for today:
7 boxes pennies
3643 copper
1 darn dime
20.82%

-a few more than I had before..

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

I am the turtle in this race..."slow" and steady. 5 boxes a day, 5 days a week and maybe a couple extra here and there for good measure. I can't imagine pulling the numbers that some of your are pulling off in one day/night.

Congrats on hitting the million mark. This week I'll hit the million mark too...

A million sorted that is.

It's amazing how quickly these things add up. I'm pretty sure you will hit your several tons this year.

I prefer the steady game...but I've been letting them pile up lately...this was a record weekend for me - sorted $3200 in one evening and one morning....then did some zinc dumping on Sunday.

Next stop in the goal: 4 full tons.

I'll try to keep up from here on out.

I get a little behind sometimes too. Sometimes I have to focus on the day job.. and this is that time of year.

What I want to know is.. how do you dump zinc on a Sunday?

I have one bank that has a branch in a grocery store that is open on Sunday.. but they have very limited vault space.. I don't think they would be too happy with me if I tried to dump some zinc there on a Sunday.

I've always thought that a barrel with the opened end down and a smallish opening at the top would be the way to go for storing large amounts. It would have a small footprint and hold a lot of pennies. Also a thief would have a heck of time dealing with that many loose pennies should he somehow find a way to actually move the sabotaged barrel. What is going to do at that point start stuffing his pockets?

Got 12 rolls of pennies, 12 rolls of nickels and 14 rolls of dimes today.

When I sorted the dimes I actually got a penny in one of the dime rolls.. first time that has happened.. usually I get dimes in my penny rolls. Bummer, it was a zinc.. so I got shorted 9 cents. One of the other rolls was 1 dime over, but 1 roll was 4 dimes short.. Ouch.. and no silver.

A very interesting sort.

$20 CWR, $5 BWR all from a Chase bank

The $20 was PURE 100% copper (execept 2 97' and one one 07') and were all strictly between 60-69',not a year under or over. Also no Candians/wheats or anything like that. The other five had a 26%.

I also asked if she halves and said "Well I have these, but their MINE", shows about 4-5 64' halves. She goes on to say I have these clads (about $30-40 worth loose), but these are MINE too. "But heres these two, their clad and I dont want them" is the last thing she said. I wonder why She wanted those clads and not the ones she offered me (40% comes to mind). I try to offer That I will buy them 10x face value , but she says its agaisnt bank rules. I am mulling over a trip back for the dime or quarters.

The silver santa should have left her a piece of zinc in her stocking!

Damn, South Dakota.. I still haven't found that one yet. I should pull out the 6 or 7 states I have so far and see which ones they are. Maybe we could put together an entire set amongst all of us.

Got one of those great phone calls this morning from the bank. They said they had a bunch of pennies for me if I wanted them. I stopped by and they had a full bag. The really nice thing was these were already out of the paper.. wish I could get more bags like that. They also gave me the nice canvas bank bag. I will sort those later tonight since they are all ready to go. They asked me if I was interested in nickels and dimes also since one of their customers called them and told them he was going to be bringing in a bunch of rolls. I will pick them up on Friday morning.

Ok.. I sorted the bag I picked up this morning.

First step.. verify the count. Ran it through the Mach 7. Total count.. 5003 pennies plus 1 darn dime. It took 1 minute, 15 seconds to count.
Sorting report:
1000 copper
exactly 20%

It was really easy just pouring the bag into the Ryedale. Sure was nice not having to break any pennies out of the rolls. I envy you guys that get your pennies loose in the bags.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

hello all

picked up $20 in local rolls today instaed of a brinks box. did slightly better than my average of 21% with the box, but fewer wheaties. I like to get the local rolls every once and a while so i can build up my stash of paper rolls to use. starting my third brick, now have $54 in copper not including wheaties and canadians. my message to the folks who are negative about this horading hobby is to finds something they enjoy and get into it the way we all do in our hoarding activities.

449 copper 1959 -1981
4 wheaties
2 copper canadian
1 dime
1544 zinc

22.65%
