Scratched (aka "impaired") proofs really are sad looking coins! I've found quite a few scratched half dollar proofs, but alas! there was nothing I could do to save them.

Ten rolls of Canadian nickels bought today.

Very good results - 109 .999 Ni (27%)
275 Cupronickel
just a handful of steel. These look to have been somebody's coin jar, with the newest coins being 2002.

Used my Ryedale last night for the first time. Only ran $101.50 due to time and the fact I have to make the pennies last until Saturday when I get more. This thing is sweet. One problem, now I see the need for ANOTHER machine for the re-sort....

$101.50 CWR (no resort yet)
2731 Cu
2 dimes (that I saw)
26.9%

Deal

Another machine would be nice. But you can do the resort in a seperate batch. Just run a quarter ton or so, then switch your settings and do the resort. With only one machine your pennies will last longer.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

All Canadian coins

Ten rolls nickels - 100 .999 Ni (25%)
four rolls dimes - 131 .999 Ni (65.5%)
two rolls quarters - 12 .999 Ni (15%) + 1 silver (surprise).

It looks like the ARP is still focussed only on quarters.

And even when you have a couple of each of those machines.. you still want more. There is always something bigger or faster.. LOL.

AAAAWWWWW CRAP!!!

As a hand sorter I tend to sort for long sessions at a time, often in the den in front of the tv watching the "Wiggles" with my 4 year old in the early evening, then with the History channel on into the wee hours of the morning. While ripping through 20 boxes for the past week or so I found myself sorting zinc into the copper and visa-versa. I push to keep myself awake to sort "just 10 more rolls" and doing this has contaminated my hoard. So now I wonder how much of my hoard is mixed CU and Zinc, or is it just this last run of boxes that was mixed. A Ryedale would solve all of this-someday soon.

To all of the hand sorters, have you ever had this happen to you?

and

To Ryedale owners, how loud is the machine? Could it be running in a basement and not be heard upstairs?

I think we have all had that happen. You are about half falling asleep and realize you just tossed a zinc into the wrong bucket. Then you wonder how many times you did that tonight. A Ryedale would certainly solve that problem. If you suspect a batch is contaminated you just rerun it through the machine. They are reasonably quiet. You could most likely run it in the basement. The Coin Artist is quieter than the Coin Apprentice because of the casing. At the volume you do there is no question that you should go ahead and get a Ryedale. Why wait?

Not a bad day for penny buying.. Got my regular Friday shipment of 8 boxes at one bank, 70 customer wrapped rolls at another bank and 5 bank wrapped rolls from the Loomis coin drop at work.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Finally topped 3 Tons!!!!!

And also sorted my 5 Millionth coin! That's over 30,000 lbs of raw coins that I've picked up, sorted, and zinc dumped....what an interesting hobby/investment....

It was a lot of sorting to plow through that $2000 on Saturday Night...even with 3 Ryedale machines going.....I even re-sorted for the older wheats...a few goodies, but no big prizes....so, the total sort was more like $2700!

I still have $1200 Canadian I want to get through on Sunday....

Must get some sleep ---- it is 5:30A here in Michigan!
