A friend just had a major fire....everything totaled. What do you think he can get for all of the scrapped appliances? Fridge, washer and dryer, stove, stainless steel sink, and dishwasher. I sure there is some brass and copper from various places too. Thanks for the help!

burnt items? I don't think it would be worth getting your hands dirty. Others may disagree. I'd say he'll just get basic scrap metal price: $0.06 - $0.25 / pound. Scrappers will know better. |

At best he would get tin prices for most of it. Some yards may not take burnt items, even appliances. |

Not sure if the insurance company will want the items that were destroyed? How did the fire start? If the insurance company dose not want them he should get normal scrap prices for the items. |

Thanks for the input but was looking for a rough dollar amount. Like a normal fridge should get 'x' $$$...and the average stove...you get the point. And the insurance said he can do whatever with what remains. Roof/attic fire then a collapse after the FD got there. |

As scrap on average
Fridge = 200 lbs @ .07 per lbs $14 / used $150.00
Stove = 100 lbs @ .07 per lbs $7 / used $125
Washer = 130 lbs @ .07 $9.10 / Used $75
Dryer = 110 lbs @ .07 $7.70 / used $75.00
Stainless sink = 12 lbs @ .50 $7.00 / used $15.00
Dishwasher = 60 lbs @ .07 $4.20 used / $25.00
These prices do not include cutting cords ( copper insulated) or removing compressors and copper.
Potential $10 to 15.00 additional
Not all fire damage claims actually prohibit the functions of machines and would yield much more as used appliances.
Hope this helps |
