If car washes cost as much there as they do here you probably came out ahead.
Now the question remains.. what in the heck were you doing with a roll of Suzy B's? Please tell us.. perspiring minds want to know. |

Heh heh... I went in looking for a roll of Presidential dollars (yes, yes, I know... the metal content is next to worthless, but I'm a sucker for shiny gold objects ). At the time they didn't have any, so I agreed to a roll of Sacagaweas, primarily for use in the soda machines at work. Once I got the roll home and opened it, I found 22 Susan B.'s, 2 Sacs, and the car wash token. As to the token - I didn't want to drive out of my way to go get a car wash, and the car wash was a self-serve hose-it-down type. I prefer the automated kind. |

Are you talking about the ones that used to come in the Mint Sets? Does it say "uncirculated" on it?
I remember the first time I found one of these, I was very new to coin collecting, and thought I had found something very rare. It didn't even have a date on it! hahaha. I tried to sell it at a coin shop, thinking I'd get paid thousands of dollars, but no, I was offered a penny for it. lol.
I don't even know where it is righ now, but I recall it had the Mint's seal on one side of it. I could pass it as a penny if I had too, but if it's copper I'll hold on it it.

In November, I found one of the red OPA World War II rationing tokens in a hand wrapped roll.
For whatever reason, the most frequent oddity I find is the 2 Eurocent coins. I'm up to 8 of those now. At this rate, I'll have enough for a full Euro by 2010. |
Here in Wisconsin, we have some of the highest property and gasoline taxes in the US. We're squeezed so much, I have to make my daughter wear penny boxes for shoes. At least she has an endless supply. |

I am a sucker for shiny gold objects too.. LOL.. shiny dollars, shiny halves, shiny quarters, shiny dimes, shiny nickels, and even shiny pennies. If it's shiny I will probably go for it. Try putting the car wash token up on eBay starting at 99 cents.. there are lots of folks that collect those and you might get lucky. |

I honestly don't know what the composition is, but I'd guess that they're copper-plated zinc, and that they're struck on penny planchets. Don't know for sure, though. |

I buy mostly $50.00 bags of pennies. I also have found one with the cross cut in it and believe it or not what looks like a diamond ear ring. I have not yet taken it to a jewelry store to see if it is real. |

Strange Find - An AU 1972 Penny imprinted with an ecology flag and the words - Support Ecology on the obverse, and the back has some silver painted shape on it. It came from a Brinks sealed box. In the late 60's and early 70's there was a very large organized ecology movement. I found where someone had listing and sold another 1972 penny, with this same imprint for $5 + shipping. |

Last week I found a cardboard cutout of a nickel in a roll of nickels. It was a 1980 Canadian. |

It has been awhile now, but a few years ago I found an 1803 half cent in a nickel roll. condition was okay, but definitely worth the $0.05
More recently I found a 1783 copper commerce G.B. token in a Half-dollar bag from US Bank. |

A completely blank (both sides) zinc penny planchet weighing exactly 2.50 grams. I wish it would have had one side printed. |

I've found many dimes & foreign coins in my searching. I've found proof cents and Indian Heads at about the same frequency in circulation (3 of each).
The most interesting find for me was an ancient copper coin. It was black and encrusted when I found it. I cleaned it up a bit and did some internet research to ID the coin. I identified to be a Hebrew coin from the Bar Kochba Rebellion circa A.D. 132. I was tickled!
I took to the foreign coin expert at my local coin shop and was disappointed to learn from him that it's a fake. Ah well ... back to searching... |

My favorite find was an Australian 6 pence.
I have also found a few cents with the cross stamped out of them and I found a Maine and Kennedy punchs in a counple of cents. |
