Picked up a bunch of scrap (enough to fill a 16 ft flatbed) from someone who called my on my craiglist ad (haul off scrap for no charge). Included were several junction boxes with pipe conduit. Each of these contained 3 600 volt wires in lengths of 3 ft to 8 ft. I got all of the wire removed and stripped, and ended up with over 50 lbs of clean copper wire. They still have a lot of scrap they want me to pick up, so I am really hoping for a bunch more boxes. I am hoarding all my wire at this time, and am hoping to have 500 lbs by the time copper get back up to 3.50 or better. With this latest score I have about 150 lbs hoarded.

I am sure you know Copper at $3.50 does not mean that you will get $3.50 for it. I've gotten the following average prices... 2007 $2.25 lb 2008 $2.45 lb 2009 $1.96 lb 2010 $2.32 lb
best was $2.60 |

I do realize that. I mean whenever the scrap yard is offering 3.50 a pound for clean #1 copper. There have been a few times it was over $3.00 here. I guess over $3.00 would be more realistic. |

Highest I got was $3.10 a couple of years ago. My last trip a few weeks ago was $2.35. Good score. I've been watching a pile of that in a storefront someone is re modeling. So far I can't catch anyone there to ask about it. |
Are you throwing that out? |

OR even holding off until you can get PAID $3.50 a lb! If you can do without the cash for a little while, that would be the way to go! :)
I wish I had me some 600Volt wire! |
