I sell my tin as soon as I get my 16ft flatbed filler, and I am stashing my copper (including the insulated wire), brass and lead waiting until the prices go back up, but I am on the fence as far as aluminum goes. Any thoughts?

I haven't cashed in aluminum cans in about a year and a half. 35 cents a pound just doesn't seem fair to me right now. I'll keep on waiting.

Actually, I meant aluminum other than cans. Sorry, did not clarify myself in the original post.

I am saving it. But when you get too much, like steel you just need to unload. I have lot's of painted Alum and will need to move it. I do keep the Extruded until the price goes up as you get the most for extruded! Doing the same with copper and ins wire. They don't take up as much space.

How do you tell the extruded aluminum? What is it used for?

Alum window and door frames. You must be logged in to see this link.

Avg price so far this year .62 but I am sure it has gone down.

As are we. We are sitting on about 14,000 pounds of Aluminum right now. All types, sheet, cast, solids, extruded. We were getting over .60 cents a pound for sheet and cast out in Denver two weeks ago. We did a huge computer recycling job out there, over 55,000 pound of metals, PCB's, copper, etc.

Holy Cow, very nice. 7 tons of aluminum will bring a chunk of change. Each penny uptick for you means an extra $140. My couple of hundred pounds is puny by comparison.

True it is a lot. But remember, this is what I do full time 24/7/365. I have been sitting on this stuff for a year or better.

There have been times when a couple of hundred pounds was all I had as well. It's out there, you just have to find it!

Suddenly the scrap run I just got back from seems pretty small! I even had stuff hanging out of the trunk of the Lincoln!

Are you throwing that out?
