I know that the stamp machines at most post offices accept pennies, but it'd be a great way to generate more of a penny inflow if there was a way to retrofit soda and snack machines to take pennies. Anyone know how feasible this would be, and if there are any companies offering equipment to do this?

You're headed the wrong way. Uncle Sam is plotting the demise of the cent if not the nickle too. Besides it makes more profit to round the price up and not deal with the worthless cent.

Awake, O kings of the earth! Come ye, O, come ye, with your gold and your silver, to the help of my people, to the house of the daughters of Zion, to the help of the people of the God of this Land even Jesus Christ.

It would be a complete waste of time. It's akin to buying a car with one dollar bills.

I accumulate nickels and dimes at about the same rate I use postage, so when I run out of stamps it's off to the post office where I spend 10 minutes feeding dimes and nickels into the machine.

A few years ago I had a several dollars of Canadian pennies from my grandfolk's penny stash. Banks don't take Canadian coin, and I didn't have enough US pennies to dilute the Canadian, so I found myself at the post office humming O Canada! as I plunked Canadian cents worth .0065 into the vending machine while it gave me credit for a full cent. Now that there is parity, that's not a possibility.

Trust the government? Ask an Indian.

They sure take them and give them here in northeast Ohio. It's kind of a co-currency around here.

I am in southern california, very close to mexico. Fortunately the mexican peso is not mixed into our money supply. Most signs in all banks are in spanish though. (except the korean banks, they do not cater to spanish speakers or english speakers for that matter)

There is a pizza joint that advertises you can pay in dollars or pesos. needless to say they do a lot of business in their part of town.
