Besides blank planchets, has anyone ever found any off-center strikes or other mint errors?

I've found a couple of very minor clips.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Nice topic, I was just getting ready to post the exact same question.

After sorting the coppers / zincs with my Ryedale. I've been hand sorting my copper looking for Double Dies. Primarily the 1969-S, 1970-S, and 1972 DDO pennies. Unfortunately, I have yet to find any. Although at the same time if they were somewhat common I don't guess they would be worth hundreds of dollars either. I'm not considering the Double Dies you can only see with a loupe, but rather the ones that have doubling clearly visible to the naked eye.

So whats the scoop? Has anyone found any?

ive only found a few clips and one cud but not as nice as the one horgad pictured. i dont bother with double dies. i tried looking for the 98,99 and 00 wide AM's as well but it just got too time consuming.

My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.

I don't usually look for errors. I've found a few obvious cuds recently, but that's it. When I do find errors, I usually let 'em go. Maybe some other penny sorter will enjoy them more than I. Rotated dies are the only ones I'd save, but I have yet to find any that are severely rotated.

I keep a loupe on my sorting table and have a strong light over the table. Anything that looks odd to me goes under the loop. Anything that doesn't look like normal damage under the loupe gets set aside for later sorting.

I am noob when it comes to identifying coin errors (cud and clip were new words I learned in 2007). But I've managed to sort my abnormal pennies into the following groups: Rim Errors, Clips, Blanks, Die Cracks, Doubling, Cuds, Plating Errors, and Unkown Errors.

The Rim and Plating errors seem pretty common and probably worthless. So I have only kept a few of them and passed on many others.

I've found 2 minor clips, 2 blanks, and 3 cuds...easy to identify even for me.

The suspected Die Cracks (3) and Doubling (4) errors I just can't verify myself...they are too minor and I am too much of noob. When I get a better way to take pictures of them, I will post them on a penny site for verification.

Same for my small pile of unknown errors. I will get more info on them when I can take better pictures...

I've found a few off-center strikes, especially on dimes, but nothing that would bring much of a premium. I'm sometimes surprised what a difference there is between different dies of the same coin, particularly the differences in relief depth. I don't see as many weak strikes as I think I would.

I've only found a couple minor cuds on copper cents. The only other type of error I have found are zincs (mostly 1983's) with gas bubbles under the copper plating.
