I hit dozens of banks in my area and have found only '1' that will sell me their bags of coins. Does anyone know the exact costs for the banks to ship these off? I am amazed at these tellers when I ask about buying the coins. They all act offended in some way. The '1' good supply bank will call me when get a full bag. They tell me I'm saving them money. They even offer to sell me all of their bagged coins everytime I go in. What gives?

The tellers are probably upset that you're interrupting their gossip sessions between customers.

Seriously, talk to the head teller or even the branch manager. I'm guessing that going higher up the food chain might get you better results.

I had the same experience. I called a CU where I am a member, and asked to buy the bags. At first she thought I meant empty bags, and said no, but then she went and asked someone, and still said no. Then I called the only other place around here with a coin machine, and they did the same thing you said - acted offended - "No! No!"

Maybe I'll try going and talking to someone high up.

Are you sure thay have bags to sell you? Just because a bank has a coin machine in the lobby doesn't mean the machine has sorted mby denomination bags in it. Of my seven dump banks with coin machines none of them are set up to bag sorted coin. Five are set up with dual bin dump carts that all denominations go into and these are shipped offsite to one of their bigger branches to be recounted /verified /rolled. One has a single bin dump. The last one bags coins but in mixed bags and these are sent to a coin processing center like brinks. I could probably buy the mixed bags since each one has a receipt made by the counting machine with a grand total of what it thinks is in there. Also some banks like to recycle coinage in house and distribute in between branches instead of paying fees to coin services or the FED for new orders of coin.

Yeah, some banks around here have the machines that don't sort the coin.

I am thinking about calling all the local banks though to see if there is even one that takes sorted bags off a coin machine.

I think some banks just won't sell back bags. It's nothing personal the teller's just don't have a say in the matter.

I watched a man return close to $500 in pennies from a fundraiser, and had over $3k left to return. It's all in pennies, and the 2 banks he's returning to are TD Banks. They are not allowing me to buy their bags which i would be happy to do.

Selling Copper cents. $0 FV available at 1.4xFV. Also interested in trading for wheat pennies and other coins Please pm me for requests or inquiries.

Why not ask the guy to HELP him and take them off his hands.
Maybe you could get together with him for the next fundraiser.
I know 3k is alot to come up with but it never hurts to ask.

Available again! $100 of Copper Lincoln Memorials for $145 shipped.

oh i offered to run the coins through a coin counter and buy all of their coin straight from their fundraiser location. But they were against having an individual not affiliated with the group handle their money... I figured i could just buy them from the banks but nope. Also i can get whatever i want at the local banks.

I have tried but buying bags seems to be a taboo or something around here.

This is all very sad and tragic, until you get a bag that is really short. You can't return it to complain and that's happened to me a couple times so i'll stick to the boxes and the trouble we have getting them out of the rolls....

My credit union sold bags to me for awhile, but then mysteriously changed their policy. Wouldn't you think they'd want to save the charges associated with returning them through an armed courier?

Hoard now and hold on!

Bags are over rated. IMHO. But they are way easier for the rye sorter. I think i'm going to develop CT in my wrists from the repetitive action i do with this hobby...
