I dont know how HCBTT does it with his special orders but I ordered from a bank, did p/u and later saw my account had been hit with special order fee. No mention of this at time of order or pickup. Heads up just in case anyone thinks they are in the clear when they start picking up large orders. Also, had another branch same bank not hit me with fee so YMMV

Is that fee delineated anywhere in your account info? Did you ask them about it? |

Yea, They said it is in the papers from when I signed up, I spoke with their customer service and the branch for an hour and half and no success ( i usually have a very high ration of reversals). I figured it was not worth anymore frustration and time than I already invested. Banks are in the biz of making $ on loans, if they loan less, they have to make it up somewhere. I have a feeling and have noticed some places seem to be trying to nickel and penny people to death. Not sure if anyone else has had these experiences |

I'd be changing banks. That's crap considering how many of have standing orders without charges. Did you ask for more than a couple hundred at a time? I've got picks at several branches of the same bank to avoid the bulk issues that some try to pop. I've also found a bank that also only deals with a certain box I like to see and had to start an account to get the amounts I wanted. |
What's in it for the dude? |

There are several banks that will order for you without a fee. There kind of like car dealerships, there is one on every corner. It looks to me like you found a good dump bank. |

Im new so im still trying to figure out the ropes. The problem must have been the "large orders" to begin with. As for using them as a dump bank, they only accept rolled and I have a luxury of a different dump that takes loose and am not equipped with rollers. I think Im finding that my Dump Bank is also probably my best pickup bank to. Now to figure out how to juggle the different branches and remember whos on first
Also have the luxury of buying lowes gift cards from coinstar and having a business cash those out in "reasonable amounts"

I've never paid a fee, but I don't really order either. I was told that if I wanted to order half dollars from one of my banks they had to charge $42 per $1000 because of costs they paid to get them. Fortunately I found another source for them. |

I'm calling BS on this one. The armored car is going to come to the bank no matter if you order or not. MAYBE they have a small fee, but not $42 per $1000. If you have an account in good standing there should be no fee. If so, move on.

The banks I deal with tell me there is no or very little cost to order coins if the truck makes a weekly stop anyway. The bigger cost comes when they return the coin. So I always make it clear to any banks that I ask to order coin for me that I will NOT return the coin to them. |

my quoted fee from Wells Fargo was "half of our incurred fees" or $7.50 (supposedly they get charged $15 per $500 box.) |

Stock up and then we can be net sellers to the banks. They will want us to bring them change. Some day businesses may also be happy to have us bring them change and save them potential fees.

I did move on :) They are actually still a good source of pennies, but just for spite (and yet not to disrupt my penny source!) I use another branch of the same bank as a dump. My curveball to their attempted bunt! |

Forgot to update here too. I got another charge three weeks after this for 150$ that said coin ordered. I called customer service and he said well. we charge 15 cents per roll, a charge of 150 would mean 1,000 rolls of coin. Its definatley an error and it will have to be credited back 1,000 rolls would have to be an error |

I was told it costs BOA five cents a roll to order for their merchants, but they don't pass the cost along. When they do I'll probably change hobbies. My weekly orders would cost me $150... and I don't get that much satisfaction our of searching halves and sorting coppers |
Hoard now and hold on!
