In July 2010, please post your finds right here.
HIGHLIGHTS OF June's SILVER SEARCHING:
Another tough month: 52% of half boxes in the month of June were SKUNKs and only 1193 SILVER halves were found (much less than May). June 2010 SILVER half production at 1193 was poor, but there were only $112,343 halves searched to find them (30% less than May).
However, there were positive highlights: UDEric found the most SILVER halves again (269) and AmalekiDad who had the lead was edged out with 227 SILVER halves. rakattack found the most SILVER dimes (40), and zerocd (15) just beats ZigMeister (14) in War Nicks.
This is the half way point for our 2010 SILVER searching: $976,799 halves have been searched finding 12196 SILVERs. $66,261.50 nicks have been searched finding 9 V-Nicks, 198 Buffalos, and 556 WAR NICKS. $45,291.25 quarters have been searched producing in 298 SILVER quarters (most of the finds were found in wonderful CWRs). Finally, $166,562.20 dimes have been sorted producing 2 Seated Liberties, 1 Barber, 88 Mercuries, 923 Roosevelts, and 30 Canadian SILVER dimes.
Other highlights are as follows:
6/2 - 12kHz finds 92 SILVER halves in four boxes, including a 1929-S Walker
6/4 - ZigMeister finds 5 Buffalos and 2 War Nicks in a box of nicks
6/8 - jtlee321 finds 6 SILVER Roosevelt dimes in only $270 of CWRs
6/10 - UDEric gets 78 40%ers in a box of halves
6/13 - AmalekiDad finds his best half box ever - 58 SILVERS
6/18 - cwgii finds a 1899 V-Nick
6/18 - bankmining has one his best SILVER days ever - 136 SILVER halves including a solid roll of '64s and almost 3 solid rolls of 40%ers
6/19 - Hirbonzig finds 13 SILVER Roosevelts in 6 boxes of dimes
6/24 - beauanderos finds an AU+ Walker - 1942
6/27 - Hirbonzig gets a box of nicks with 4 WAR SILVERS in it
6/27 - rainsonme finds an 1854 dime Love Token - the oldest SILVER coin found this year by anyone
6/29 - slickeast finds another great $1000 bag with 134 SILVER halves in it
It's important to post your SKUNKS as well as your great SILVER finds. That keeps the statistics honest. I'll try to post some graphs of our SILVER finds as 2010 proceeds along by adding data to this initial post. I'll see if I can post some interesting insights into the data here in this initial post for 2010 too. Even though this is a national tabulation of all our finds, I think its fun to know what finds are being made and at what frequentcy.
It might be interesting to see how many Barbers, Walkers, Franklins, and 90% Kennedys are found too. Also, how many Barbers and Mercurys dimes we find. I'll try to keep track of all of these.

The total SILVER count for each box is either the actual reported SILVERs, $1000 bag SILVERs divided by two, and a few SILVER counts that were extrapolated from multiple box reports that did not delinate how many SILVERs were in each box. The chart shows the number of SILVERs on the horizontal axis and the number of boxes for that count on the vertical axis. Outliers that were not included to make the chart reasonable in size were Slickeast's 183 and 229 SILVER $1000 bags, JJM's 397 $620 vault bag, zerocd's 132 box, UDEric's 78 and 113 boxes, AmalekiDad's 92 box, and 12kHz's wonderful 131, 155, 161, 235, 287 and 311 SILVER boxes.

No silver again this week. I continue to occasionally find my own marked halves from the dump bank that I no longer use. I also asked at a couple branches of my current dump bank what armored car service they use, and unfortunately it is the same as my source bank. So now I don't know what to do. I may have exhausted the easy silver in my area anyway.

One very interesting thing, though. Ive picked up a rolls worth of 71Ds in BU condition, look like they were broke out of the original roll right into my box! I had a reputable dealer put them under the scope and he agreed. So even without the silver there are some good finds out there for the non edge sorters. |
